Picked up this Snugtop today with Yakima rails and Prinsu rack for 800. Just have to attach rails and assemble the rack.

Yes, it really was. The way they are backed up right now, I'm extremely happy with this.

    Scored big time today.
    Got this for 50 $ !!!!!!
All the glass is perfect, New locks on it, and electrical works. It's fiberglass.
Didn't match my truck, so I painted it right after I got it.
It is pretty old, and was made for a different truck. But it fits great, and the guy I bought it from had it on his taco for about 7 years.
It's not fancy, but I'm really exited about it!

    Seriously!

I've been searching for a shell for about 6 months now, and I feel super lucky. I was at the point I was going to put in some overtime and just buy a brand new one for like 1,800$, but I'm glad I waited!
It's definitely pretty old. It doesn't seal perfectly at the front end, and I'll need to do some seal work there. However, I think it's in great condition. Pretty happy about the paint job too, I just spent 15 bucks on paint and 3$ for a paint brush at home depot, and it looks like the shell was made for the truck! :D

Celebrated by taking my dog out swimming at the park, and my dog is pretty happy about it too :woot:

$200! Although, it wasn't quite as nice as I had hoped but I drove 4 hours round trip so I took it anyways. Gets painted in the next couple weeks for $400. So total cost of $600 seems alright to me.image.jpg

Paid $1500 for our Century Ultrasport shell, had a monthly special of free headliner, +$110 for the fold down front window. The dealer said they are made in the same factory as Leer, having check it out, logo indent is the same and everything looks identical. Did not get the fancy Leer clamps but the dealer did a good job of installing.

ONLY thing that peed me off was, I looked at/wanted the 1/3rd slide side windows, it didn't come with them, dealer said they are not available on the short bed version.

Century and Leer web pages are identical and even their care booklet is the same...

Many companies source parts or from the same factory, but order them to different specs.( speaking genrally not just truck stuff )
So I would assume the century orders different specs than the leer which is why they didn't offer the feature you wanted.

    Looks nice..
I think you should paint it yourself, not saying do a cheap job like I did.. But you could spend about 50$ for a quart of auto paint at home dopot and make it look really good.

Just fwiw if you want to save some $.

I'm still amused that just a week after scoring my mica silver 2008 AC with 16000 original miles last year, I found a like-new Snugtop for a 2008 AC in Mica Silver for like 1/2 the price of new.

what are the odds ?? (note I hadn't even replaced the OE tires yet with 5 new KO2's)

I found a Snugtop Rebel for dcsb on a used truck for sale at a local dealer. Suggestions as to what to offer for the cap to get them to sell it separate from the truck? It has sliding side windows with screens and fold down front slider. I'll need to get it painted if purchased. Never dealt with a dealer in this way before so any advice will be much appreciated.

Dealers have been known to be assholes about this kind of stuff. Like they should even care. But they act like it's their first born son and your trying to buy it to harvest organs. All you can do is give it a shot. Personally...I would test drive the truck, take the shell off and drive the truck back like nothing ever happened. Lol JK....

Toyota dealer up north takes the caps off to sell the vehicles most of the time. Will mention that they have a cap to the potential buyer if they want it and give it to them for free. They claim trucks sell twice as fast without a cap on it. They regularly have a cap sale and sell them for anywhere between $100-300 and you'll see 20 caps laying in the yard. Problem is they are seldom caps that fit a Toyota.

Just scored a SnugTop XTR for $1,300. It was a floor model at a dealer who stopped repping the brand. Perfect color match and flawless condition. They included a professional install for the $1,300. Local dealer quoted me $2,695 base price for a new one.

Does the camper shell fit any truck as long as the beds are the same length?
