Length, width, taper of the bed all play into the size.
Also your expectations of "fitting" may vary from mine. I have seen caps on trucks that are clearly not designed as such.
I was only willing to have a cap designed for a DCLB tacoma as I wanted it to follow the body lines.

Yeah just paid about $2300 for an ARE with sliding windows, cap liner, roof rack. Didn't add much else. About had a heart attack when I first saw the price. Makes me wish I would have looked for a used one for a bit. But the warranty and new shell I think will be worth it. Local Ohio company too which is nice.

Hello all. I’m new to this forum but thought I would chime in as I was interested in what others were paying for their toppers. I purchased an ARE with sliding front and side windows. Side windows have screens. My topper does leak a bit during car wash but does fine during a light to moderate rain. I paid $1650 installed. I plan on wiring my interior topper light into the cargo lamp switch so the light comes on when I flip the switch and when I open the doors.

Link for my 3 step process to stop my leaking.
Mine was a light leak, but still unacceptable.

I’ve been trying to figure out where it leaks. I tried baby powder by the seal where everyone says they leak to determine if that was my problem. The test was inconclusive. I’m gonna have my girlfriend drive through the car wash and ride in the back and see if I can figure it out. I’m thinking based on where I’m seeing the water its coming from the sliding windows.

Just go out in the driveway with a hose and nozzle. Spray a area, then check. If dry repeat a different area.

I didn't check for a exact spot. I sealed every spot that could leak.

I’ve tried the hose and its bone dry. Outside of the car wash it has only done it one time during a heavy rain at 70mph. Weird thing is it’s all or nothing. It either leaks quite a bit when it does it or it doesn’t leak at all. It leaks at the car wash every time. I have poor water pressure at my house as I live by a hospital so now I have to resort to car wash. I’m worried about this winter its already getting cold here in Northwest Iowa, today it was in the teens most of the day with wind chill. I’m worried what will happen if this winter that water finds the crack its coming in and then freezes.

Try looking where the back lid meets the tailgate on either side edge. I've seen water get in there driven by the wind of driving or sideways spray of carwashes. I tried to fill the gap with some creative application of 1/2 self adhesive weatherstripping. Worked pretty good.

    You in NE?

So I checked it and your right!!! Big gap right where you said on both sides. Do you have any pics of what you used? I grew up in Nebraska but now live in Northwest Iowa. I will forever be a Huskers fan though.

naw no pics my Taco went to heaven about 10 months ago. Just go to Menards or whatever and get some 1/2x1/2 self adhesive weatherstrip. I attached it to the inside of the lip of the back lid. Let it overhang a bit into the gap.

Now that I bought another shell, I can play this game again! Paid $500 for this one, but sold my other one for $400. Both buyer and seller were in NC, so I made a trip down there and met them both at the same time, and moved caps around. The windoors are so darn handy!
