On a side note I have a common insurer too and pay about 800 bucks every 6 months. I have a clean record, I’m in my 30s and I have full coverage. I do have another classic car on there that’s only about 100 bucks of that 800. FWIW I also drive 20k a year though, which sucks...

My wife and I have USAA, been with them for around 13 years or so.
I have full coverage on both my 2017 Tacoma and my wife's 1998 Rav4.
Monthly cost is $158. And we live in a fairly rural area, and despite their commercials, USAA is not "low cost" insurance.

    Should have added:
Wife and I are both in our early 50's, no accidents / claims / points on driver licenses in >10 years for either of us. The above monthly amount breaks down to roughly $110/Tacoma, $48/Rav4. A few years ago when I still had motorcycles, they cost me about $100/each/month.

Yea it's probably true. When I bought my Tacoma the dude ran my credit came back and said hey look
you can get anything you want... just pick it out and it's yours. Just checked and it seems my score
dropped from 869 to 844 recently. I'll take it LOL. Wonder if that Tacoma purchase did the deed.

Am I the only one that refuses to do business with those auto insurers that require you to let them monitor your driving habits? I will happily pay more to a company that does not mandate this. This was especially important when I was driving my Corvette! :)

yeah ive been happy with geico for the time ive had it. I remember when i was shopping around the premiums were outrageous compared to geico for nothing even better

    200/mo (Canadian). I'm also 17 and male, so I don't think it's that awful.

I am from NC, and the good thing about NC, is they have an insurance commissioner, and the premiums are regulated by the state of NC, which is why they are lower cost there.

I'm in CA. As far as age goes, let's just say I have been driving for several decades! I have no tickets, clean record, I drive a 2019 Tacoma TRD Sport. The first year I had full coverage through AAA and it was just over $600 for a YEAR of Full coverage. I dropped the full coverage after the first year, to save money, and now with liability, theft, and uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage, I pay just over $466 a year. This does not include the membership fee for AAA which is $120 for me and the wife, but that is also for an upgraded free towing to cover 100 miles. Still though, considering this is CA, I don't think that is too bad, relatively speaking...

I agree, thankfully my Insurer either doesn’t offer or if they do don’t push this ‘option’. The fact that three of my vehicles are so old they don’t have OBD ports might be a factor though LOL!

On a related note, has anyone had any luck switching from one of the big-name Insuers to a local company? A few years ago a friend of a friend was trying to convince me to switch my auto and homeowners policies from the national company I use, to a local company he represented. I never pursued it but at the time he was claiming he could provide the same coverages for less $$.

I assume full coverage? If so that looks like a good deal. I am paying $200 a month here in Alberta for full coverage and I am 30 with no accidents or tickets. Absolutely sickening!

I know when I was a young buck driving a BMW. It was cheaper for me to get insurance thru CNA casualty from a broker vs. me trying to get insurance from anyone else. Apparently 170HP is enough to mow people down like a Mustang

I kept my full coverage on my 04 because of the value paid off good, had been accident free for yrs but it's value was more than I wanted to pay out of pocket for replacement. When someone pulled out in front of me, to avoid t-boning him I cought a tree, a-hole drove off but I had witnesses
