You mean the phantom theme park in New Caney that's managed to defraud both private investors and tax grants out of hundreds of millions since 2006?

I read one of the most fantastic pieces of journalism ever, it was a 10 page expose on that boondoggle and was published by the free rag, Houston Press. Something like 5 or so years ago if I remember, back when they called the park Earth Quest Adventures. Either few people read it or nobody cared. Those guys are still scamming boat loads of money as far as I know.

Probably 30 years ago a company I was working for relocated to Houston. Our company sent us down to persuade us to relocate and we got a spiel from the Houston Chamber of Commerce.

Two things stood out to my wife and me. First was they told us Houston was the most air conditioned city in the USA and it had an extensive network of tunnels under downtown so you didn't need to go outside. Second was something about how great the suburbs were and you never needed to be in the city except to commute to work.

    We declined the move.

The tunnels are useless unless the building you work in is connected to the tunnels. Otherwise it's a touristy attraction that kills a good two-three hours, so long as you have free time during banking hours.

Oddly enough the court system has a different set of tunnels, which makes jury duty a very unique experience. Being escorted down some dark winding corridors by a bailiff only to be loaded on a freight elevator with 30 other people, was, um, memorable.

There's a big thing about inner loopers vs outer loopers. Most of the cool shit is inside the loop, but it's a nightmare to get there. Forget about parking, unless you like to eat dinner before 5. The exception is near seabrook/nasa. There's a lot of cool stuff there, but it's hidden behind the endless shit-food empire that is just another Landry's under a different name.

That's been a story on and off for 20 years and has yet to make the evening news. Not holding my breath that it would happen even in this lifetime.

They were probably waiting for the right time. Look at the old six flags in New Orleans, they still haven't cleared it out but there were talks of doing so. I guess since movie and tv production still use it they left it as is.

TX 4-5 months out of the year is too damn warm for Disney Land. They are strategically placed in the southern part of their state for a reason. Their real money making shop is Disney World Orlando obviously. CA air quality level ain't getting any better, they look forward to rain to put out their fires. Is climate change real? I wouldn't risk living in a dry weather, fire prone state ready to burn down your house. Don't get me wrong I dont mind taking a vacation to CA to visit family and sight seeing a few places.
Move to TX like Joe Rogan, I wonder who will be his lucky neighbors when he gets his plot of land here, I heard he is an avid hunter.

And all these small lame popup theme parks/waterparks here are starting to get annoying but we are all guilty going to them. I do prefer taking a road trip to the hill country area, it's nice but that's where all the Californians are moving to driving up real estate that was already high to begin with. Tesla and Amazon employees are here to stay and party like The Wolf of Wall Street.

Damn first world problems and choices we have to make, MERICA!
