What's the best 2" lift?

I just put new BFG 265/75/16's on my Tacoma SR5. I couldn't spring for the 285's because I haven't done a lift and I wanted the tires before the snow hits. Now I'm obsessed with leveling out the factory rake and maybe getting another inch out of the back. Right now I have 6.5" from the top of the back tire to the upper wheel well and 5" in the front. So I have a 1.5" rake. I want to go up a bit, but I don't know if a 3" lift will look funny w/ out the 285's.

-I'm looking into the Ready Lift 3" to 1" rear lift.

-Or Bilstein 5100's in the front set at 1.75" or something.

Budget is also tight, tires wiped me out. Any Suggestions? Thanks Guys

Big tires, big lift, Lots of stuff's.
5100's is a good option but a 3 inch toy tec or OME would look fine with 265's.

Welcome to TW. For a good lift, you're looking at replacing shocks and coils. Since you're on a budget, I'd recommend getting 5100's now and using them to preload your stock coils. When you get some more money saved up and want a taller or better lift, you can reuse the 5100's and put either OME or Eibach coils on them. I wouldn't waste your money on the Readylift. Check out my photo gallery, there are plenty of pictures of my truck with a 2" lift and 265 tires (some pictures have stock tires, some have a more aggressive 265/70R17 A/T tire).

To be honest I'd save your money until you can buy a full lift. I did the 5100's on my Tacoma in the front, then I wanted the coils(ebiach) and I did the front again, then I did the 5100's in the rear with another aal a month or so down the road. I'd recommend just doing it all at one time. Side note I have the OME lift on my runner and like it as well.

Not bad advice. Think of the money wasted by tearing the front apart multiple times and paying for multiple alignments. It's cheaper in the long run to do it once and do it right.

Good advise, Thanks guys. Will adding a leaf in the back raise it up or just improve load capability?

Just get a spacer lift for cheap and throw it on yourself then get an alignment. I put mine on when the truck had 5k now have 30k and zero problems and rides like stock.i also have the tsb rear leaf pack and the it looks perfect! And I also have 265/70-17 general grabber at2's

It will lift the rear also.

I would take 5100's or a coilover lift over spacers any day. They ride better and do not come with any of the risks of damage if you off road the truck. Spacers are cheap for a reason. Why spend a lot of money on the truck, then cheap out when it comes to the aftermarket parts?

Get some bad ass King OEM coilovers. They are adjustable to whatever height you want to make them. They are designed not so much as a lift kit but a performance shock. There is a GB going on with them right now also.

Yea sarcasm buddy. Do it twice cheaper that will add up to almost what you could do it once right for.

i have billies up front @ 1.75 and it leveled it almost to perfection. was running 265/70 r16 and it looked like a normal mid size truck and just didnt like it. so threw on some spidertrax spacers to make the wheels pop out and some 285 75 r 16 and man it hs a much more agressive look. but had to do lots of "trimming" to get a normal street ride as far as turning and such. however now i believe the tires look kid of big for the 1.75 so im bumping it up to 2.5 and adding a 1" block to the rear for now. so.... its all a PIA but truck looks good :b

Thanks guys, all good ideas. Mike your making a lot of sense. I don't want to skimp on parts, its a nice truck and I want it done right. The stance is just bothering me. Now I'm wishing I did it the other way around... Put a grand into the lift first, then save up for even bigger tires! Piss! Oh well, the 265's are nice, they weight 50 something pounds a piece, I can only imagine what the 285's would weigh.

Bilstein has a nice kit with 5100's all around, coil covers, and another leaf. That would be the one I would go for. I like the aluminum look better than the OME yellow, but its close to a grand and I don't have the lift or coil compressors to do it, That means I need a garage to help. "Mo $ Mo $ Mo $" This big boy toy tinkering is expensive! Much easier doing mods on RC trucks...HA HA

Tacoma builds must be like Pringgles, "once you pop you can't stop" Someone should write a thread on how to get your wife to go along with our obsession. That would be good stuff to know
