With those intake pipes, I wonder does anybody make one with zero inputs other than to and from? That is - eliminating crankcase breather input and brake booster. If so I would def. buy one - plug the damn booster in at the throttle body pcv connection and let the pcv vent outside.

That is if I could get an answer on whether the pcv actually does anything besides act as a vent and foul up my intake.

I have always admired people that could take something and make it do something cooler for little to no expense. The example which comes to mind is my brother's windshield washer sprayer on an '81 Civic. He twisted it to the side so when he was next to someone at a light he could spray their windshield. If he looked straight ahead without expression he could enjoy their bewilderment.

pcv and brake booster need vacuum so they dont actually go into the intake pipe. why would you even want to do this?

Ah, ABS. Isn't that kinda like IBS in that year taco? I had a friend with a Nissan that was so scary on dirt roads we had to pull the relay.

abs works the same they just moved the system around in later years.

EDIT: and by works i mean its just as bad as the other 1st gen abs systems.

ya, thinkin' that's not the brake booster - scratch that. whatever vac hose going in on the front - hook that to where the pcv normally goes to the throttle body. Idea is eliminate the pcv system, just treat it like a vent from each valve cover to outside. There's supposed to be a positive pressure thing going on there but I have my doubts. It just spits oil into the intake.

my pcv has never put a drop of oil into the intake. try replacing yours. if you already have you can add a catch can.

Gotcha, I ordered a pcv. It's my understanding that vacuum should be applied to the crankcase to limit turbulence from blow-by gasses and pressure a simple vent would not alleviate. I do think the crankcase vent side could be removed from the intake pipe though. I did that on a jeep that a pcv replacement did not work on. That straight 6 is a different beast though.

So what would the point of a catch can be? to see how much oil your intake is sucking out of the left valve cover at less than wide open throttle? Just vent that one to outside and let it draw in as it needs to through an end filter. Pardon my ignorance if I'm missing something here, just trying to figure this out the cheap way.

Just read back through that... kinda disjointed. My main point on the PCV system is that it can and does from my experience introduce oil into the intake. This may or may not be corrected with a replacement pcv valve. The thing is that where vacuum is applied; under the throttle body at the pcv, is most likely not where it puts oil into the intake. That would be the breather inlet in the intake pipe that comes from the driver's side valve cover. I don't think there is enough positive pressure being applied to overcome the vacuum of the intake where the breather inserts at all throttle positions. That is to say that when the butterfly valve is partly open creating strong suction, some oil is pulled out of the left valve cover into the intake. Since this side of the pcv really only needs to draw in air, I just disconnect it, put an end filter on it and cap the intake port. Evidence that it does not normally emit oil is that no oil is seen in the filter after vacuum pressure is eliminated.

Hmm I sitting here thinking could we use a small rubber tube and slide it down there? For the dash rattle. It would be a black hose and match.

I want to say 3/8". It's been a while though so I'm not 100% sure. Tomorrow I'll see if I have some lying around the garage still and measure it
