I have a 2016 Tacoma OR and want to simply replace the bulbs for somethign that may be brighter and whiter in both the headlamps and fogs. I do not want to do a HID conversion or any modification to the stock untis. Any suggestions? The stock bulbs are driving me crazy as I am so use to the brighness of my LED's in my BMW. I realize Im nto going to get close but there must be something better from a conventional bulb.

I replacedScreenshot_2016-09-09-19-24-58_1473463535696.jpg my headlight bulbs with Philips Xtreme Vision H11 bulbs, much brighter and whiter ( not blueish ) and the pair of bulbs is about $34 on ebay

It requires a plug and play wiring harness for the high powered bulbs. No permanent modifications of any sort.

If you want bulbs that are stock wattage, which will be an improvement but not near what could be done with the link above, some bulbs to look at:
    Osram Nightbreakers
    Philips X-treme vision +100%
    Osram silverstar (not sylvania!)

I'm not sure if these are all available in H11.

It is H11 for the lows and Fogs and H9's for the high beams?

Yes, H11s for the lows and TRD wide angle fogs. H9s for high beam.

Some good ideas in here for good H11 bulbs. H11 bulbs (55W) are around 1100-1350 lumens. Another safe and cheap idea that just takes a few minutes with simple tools is to modify some H9 high beam bulbs (65W) to fit where your H11 low beams go. That will give you around 2000-2100 lumens. I did this and it works great. The H9's have a more pure white output compared to a stock H11. Their color is close to the Philips Xtremevision H11 +100. And H9 bulbs from Philips/Osram/Narva are pretty cheap. Edit: To clarify, this suggestion is for 3rd Gen only, and for the H-11 low beams only. Do not use an H9 in a reflector fog lamp...that's unsafe for other drivers and the glare in weather would likely defeat the purpose of the fog lamp.

This is not a good practice for halogen reflector assemblies. H9 has no glare guard and is not designed for low beam, unlike the H11. Sure they are brighter, but they are also emitting glare and blinding oncoming drivers.

It also doesn't cover as good as stock. From pictures I've seen it leaves a few lower spots dark.

I posted this suggestion for the 3rd gen projector lens assembly. I would NEVER suggest this to a 2nd Gen owner.

    Link?

I didn't notice an issue with H9's on mine, curious if I didn't notice something.

H9 right side, h11 (stock) left side. Difference is minimal but stock looks more uniform.

Thanks! Sure does in that pic.

I might just be rationalizing my own choice here, but I think the "near" or lower end of the beam is less important at speed. The extra lumens in the main mid/high area are probably most important. And if you have to go slow, the fogs are there to fill in low. That said, there is definitely a difference in the beam pattern on this 4Runner.

I may swap out one of my H9's back to the H11 OEM and see if there is the same difference on the Taco.

I was referring to the 3rd Gen H11 reflector fogs the OP was also asking about.

    Reviving an old thread...

I've been looking for an upgrade for the stock H9 bulbs on the 3rd Gen Tacoma. (I want stick to halogen, no leds or hids)

Does anyone have some good recommendations?

I found these... any experience or input?

+120%. Osram and Philips I are both at +130% in light output war. Regardless should be compatible, but both Philips and Osram do not use a fully coated bulb for better output and longer life, unlike PIAA.
