:rant:So it seems like everybody and their brother uses our driveway as a turnaround. It's like some sort of freakin' phenomenon. One night I swear it was like every 5 minutes we'd have someone doing it. The fact that it was happening was only mildly annoying, but then some dumbass last night took out our mailbox and post. The house is a duplex so the driveway is 4+ car widths wide. Can anyone think of anything that I can do to prevent this from happening so much, short of building a concrete/brick partition down the middle. It wouldn't be such an issue if they would pull straight in then back out.

Well, I would but being Alaska and all, it's nice to keep them garaged, not to mention some of the people in our neighborhood are questionable at best. What can I say, I'm a little protective over my truck.:D

I've seen people put planters out in the driveway, maybe post a sign that states that you don't want them using your driveway to make u turns.

This is an absurdly expensive idea, but you know those spikes at rental car lots that let you pass one way, but not the other? Get a set of those w/ a remote that retracts them so that they lay down when you want them to. Set them so they're facing out... otherwise people would roll over them, then when they realized they can't back up they'd drive through your yard to get out.

Hit the remote when you come home, roll over them, then let them spike back up.

Problem solved. Of course... you'd be 'That guy' in the neighborhood.

Also... since the mailbox is gone, re-build one like this. Somebody might run into it, but they'll damn sure regret it.

You have a truck, what takes up the other spot in your garage? What kind of vehicles turn around? If they're cars...you have a bit of ground clearance compared to cars. Just put a bunch of bricks in your driveway..like 4 or 5 inches high...with like 2 foot wide paths for you to be able to pull into your garage. People probably wont try and turn around in your driveway anymore.

Let's see a picture of the driveway in question... that'll give us a little more to work with.

Maybe put a couple of stripper poles with strippers in the middle of the driveway?

Yeah, I think I've seen that a couple times. Don't think I understood the point when I saw them, but I do now. Yeah......I would have to be dealing with resonable respectful people for a sign to work. We have a large speed bump on my street that they use as a speed jump.:fenforcer:

God, I wish. But you know I would get some m/f at my door demanding I buy him new tires. Damn work internet filters! I'll check that out when I get home.

A Mazda3. All sorts turn around.

If I can't get the wife to post it for me, I'll do it when I get home.

The only strippers that would strip year round outside in Alaska must be some god awful looking women. So people won't want to turn around, or even slow down to watch.

    Good idea!

    I thought this deserved a non-multipost response. Hell Yeah!:hungry:

Don't think the wife would go for it though.

People definately wouldn't be able to turnaround in my driveway then,.........

Because of the freakin' traffic jam!!lmao:rofl:

Maybe a fabbed up spike strip like a length of 2x4 with a bunch of nails pounded through it?
Yeah, i'd like to think you can do whatever you want to your own property without the risk of being sued, but sadly in today's day & age you could find yourself in small claims court...or even find your tires slashed one morning by the m/f in question. Be safe and post a sign warning of spikes.

    ...gawd i hate people...

I like some concrete planters. That's what my dad ended up doing to prevent the neighbors from pulling into their driveway by taking our driveway.

their driveways were next to each other. He put up the planters next to his driveway and now there is no way for the neighbors to pull in/out of their driveway.

Get a log chain and secure it to two post at either end of the mouth of the driveway and put it up when you are in for the evening and un hook it when your not, kinda like a log chain gate

Mount a motion-activated lawn sprinkler near the end of the driveway to spray offending cars with a burst of water.
