Whats the story behind your screen name?!

Not much of a story; just never really matured past 12. The truck is white though. So I suppose that's handy.

I've had this username since i started going on car forums 12-13 years ago. I thought it was hilarious at 15 years old on the VW forums, still think its pretty funny. Especially when i was on the honda forums for a short stint

 

To be honest, I can't remember. I started on VWVortex with the username "A Four" because I owned an A4. Then I went on to Audizine with my current username, which I've kept. R is my first initial, but the 490 I don't even know.

People seem to think that I'm ex-Navy (thus my screen name) but in fact, I was never in the military and my screen name has nothing to do with the sea or anything nautical at all.

My name is taken from an old Bluegrass song called "Salty Dog Blues." I grew up in the hills of West Virginia I'm proud of my mountain "hillbilly" heritage.

Now, in Hillbilly parlance a Salty Dog is a man who keeps a woman, uh, "entertained" when her man is away. The term Salty Dog can actually have two meanings: A, it can mean the man who does the "entertaining" or B, that certain part of the man's anatomy that he uses to do the "entertaining."

So basically it is a Hillbilly Gigolo. But I guess it can also mean that I'm a dick.....

Back when I was a teenager kill bill had just come out. I loved the movie, still do. So it's an ode to the crazy 88 fight team and their awesome job in the house of blue leaves fight scene.

I always have been a sucker for small cars that have been modded to increase the Fahrvergnuegen (HP/Handling) and a fan of Mini,s and Abarths. Back in the days I owned an old Abarth in Germany and drove the tires off thru the Bavarian Country Side (similar like the one in the pic below)



later in 2015 I bought a black Fiat Abarth over here since I wanted a little more Uff Dah I tweaked the car a little and it turned out been pretty Evil and since I owned an Abarth I thought it would be fun to get a plate that reads EvlKarl what is also Abarths 1st Name. So as you can see owing a Tacoma is so out of my normal car buying history and yes a red Pete 579 is my DD.

Thought I already posted an explanation... maybe more than one thread,

anyhow, mine refers to the days when I built racing engine for privateer racing and street hooligans. At the time the GSX-R 1000 was the bike to beat, so, a few guys wanted 02 R1 engines built and once delivered they came back a week later an said to my boss “ Damn, D made me a real gixerkiller....”

 

Back around 1996 or so I needed a screen name and new fancy email... so I chose my initials and my at the time bike, a 1994 ZX-9R that looked the same as this.
