Oh I get ya. I don't think they will fall prey either. Just saying that Toyota can't just sit on their laurels and cry "we are the king of the mountain" forever. At some point they need to do some changes on the Tacoma. She is long overdue. Just please don't take it in the same direction as the 4runner PLEASE. lol.

I really hope this will make Toyota start thinking about a redesign on the Tacoma and finally bring the deisel to the US.. I wouldnt buy a gm truck only if it was a whole lot better than the Tacoma, as far as mpg's, power/torque and features..
But one thing that will always be a huge selling point for Toyota is resale value.. GM gots nothing on that!! Lol

Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
My third door rotted out on my '99 S-10. I never would have kept that truck long enough for the rest to, it was at the dealer more than not. Lost 4wd twice in 11 months, same problem!! It didn't work when I traded it in either. Thankfully 95% of repairs covered under extended warranty, or I'd still be paying for it!!

First time I've seen the facelifted model, I was looking the the tail lights. Reminded my of the new Tundra.

I had the same year, 2 door manual.

Heater core and radiator gave me tons of problems getting stopped up. I replaced the thermostat housing 3 times because it kept getting leaks at the near 90 degree turn (not a hose leak, the actual aluminum would get a hole in it). The AC went out at around 60k miles. Both power window motors had to be replaced. The head gasket developed a leak at 80k. I also had a ton of other minor problems. All of this occurred at less than 100k miles.

Either you were lucky or I was very unlucky

so what happens IF the 2015 becomes the 3rd GEN, and comes with a drastic improvement in MPG. that lame update they did in 2012 should of came at least with a 2-4mpg improvement but instead they sat on their butts.

all I am saying is if Toyota is working on Gen3 and the DCSB V6 now gets 31MPG -- what will that do to the overall resale value of anything before it ?? I think it will hurt. They should of been improving it - instead of just letting them sit since Q4-2004 ...

Interesting when GM and Chrysler both claim to have built trucks of the year for the last ten years....The big 4 can all go to hell with their crap

I think Toyota will end up dropping the 5th Gen 4Runner motor V6 in a new Tacoma. More power and mpg.

It's technically the same engine we have now, only with dual-vvti. I don't know why Toyota hasn't done that with the Tacoma yet.

They'll keep making midsized trucks that kick everyone else's ass  Anybody who owns a Toyota, loves their Toyota, will probably stick with Toyota.

Thank goodness for that corner-step bumper!!

Looks like Toyota waited for the 2014 generation Tundra to update the 1GR-FE to dual-vvti. They dumped the 2UZ-FE and just carried over the other two V8s. I know they're waiting for the 2017 CAFE standard before they do that though.

The Tacoma sales figures are down 14.3% for the month of Feb compared to the same month of 2013. All the other SUV's and Tundra are up double digits for the same period.,

Chevy has the "Reaper", more to compete with the Raptor though. I haven't seen anything that will be similar for the Colorado.

Toyota has been shifting more of the San Antonio production mix to Tundra, since they make more money on those. Plant is running near capacity, so to turn up Tundra, they need to turn down Tacoma.

I think the truck looks pretty bad ass. Throw a lift on it and I think the styling is better than the Tacoma.

If I'm in the market for another midsize truck down the road, I'd certainly give these a look. Especially if the Tacoma hasn't changed...
