I don't know about you, but I love the way trucks look once you get done with a fresh wax or wash. Even though this should be posted in the detailing section of the site, I figured I'd post it in the main section to get several opinions. Personally, I like Meguiars products. Before I polish and wax my rig, I like to give it a thorough wash. If I get enough time, I'll even wash it twice to ensure a clean surface. I then use masking tape and cover up surfaces I don't want to get wax on. (Door handles, Mirrors, Bed Trim, and the Window Gaskets) I then bring out the buffer and get to work with the Meguiars fine-cut cleaner No. 2. This "appears" to scratch the paint, so I apply Meguiars medium-cut cleaner No. 1 over the fine-cut which really brings out the glossy finish. I then apply some Ice wax, sometimes I use Mothers carbonara wax, to protect the polishing. I then let the truck be for the next six-eight months before applying some of the medium-cut cleaner again. This makes the truck "pop" again and will last another six months. After those six months, I repeat the process. I'm wanting to see what some other users use when making their rig shine like new, so post up!

Have been using Duragloss. Really deepens the color amazingly well.
Just got some Sonax polynet to try out after the next wash.

I've heard people say that Duragloss is a really good product. I think the type of washing soap used is what determines how long the shine/wax lasts. I learned that the hard way when I once used some dishwashing soap:frusty:.

Never have used dish soap (on this truck). Have been using to Optimum No-Rinse. Works really well.

I use some ArmorAll soap that has kept my truck looking excellent! I've read that some people use hair conditioner to keep their rigs shiny? I would think the conditioner would simply rinse off whenever the first rainstorm came around.

Quality towels that won't scratch. But my truck is black so fml anyway.

Really? Hair conditioner. Whoa. I don't think I would try anything but a product tested on a vehicle. Would think conditioner is more expensive too, no?

Yes! I feel your pain:annoyed:. The black shows absolutely everything. The good thing about black is that they look good in pictures.

That's what I would think too. I mean do you rinse it off after you apply it? Like are you suppose to let it sit for awhile if you do rinse it?

Yes I admit it, I use ArmorAll. It's only the wash and wax soap, so it can't be that bad for my paint. Can't stand their interior products!

Do you apply another coat of wax or sealant after using the medium cut cleaner?

Duragloss makes good products for a great price. I've used their 902 Car Wash Soap for years & their Tar & Bug Remover is excellent. It won't hurt your wax/sealant either.

I usually just apply the medium-cut cleaner without another protective layer. It would probably be worth applying a coat of wax if the truck sat outside over the course of a year, but mine is garage kept.

That medium cut cleaner is going to remove your wax/sealant since it's mildly abrasive.

Yeah it does remove the wax, but to me it looks better without the wax applied over the top. I also use 3M handgloss and its suggested not to apply a wax over that. I do, however; apply some wax to the front (Hood and Bumper) to make it easier for bugs and such to come off.

I wax my truck every other time I wash it I think its the only way to keep a black truck looking nice. also twice a year I'll clay it glaze it wash it again then do a wax coat. it takes a long time but its totally worth it when you're done.
