Thanks! I have always been fond of the SN95 cars, especially the subtlety of the circle fogs and hood on the Cobra models.

    I wouldn't either.

They sell a lot of mech. I also know they buy and sell a lot of race parts. Those crazy Texans get bored in the middle of nowhere.

I almost won a 1998 Bright Atlantic Blue Cobra on Cars and Bids a few months back but was out bid by $100. :annoyed:

I didn’t mean to impugn your buddy at all. Just a general comment on how hard it is to make it a business at low levels. Way easier if you’re up in the big leagues with merch and actual sponsorships with spectators

And I was only asking what you meant because I have to tell clients all the time no, you cannot write off your $100k bass boat just because you entered a tournament or two.

Oh I didn't take it any way but good advice. It's the internet and I choose to give members the benefit of the doubt (unless obvious).

They have a pretty big setup with several cars, shop, toterhomes with double stacks, and sponsors. Clay, one of the other owners wins quite a bit.

I would post more pics, but I don't feel like blacking out all the political flags and stickers. Lol. Texans.

I raced an early 2000s GT secretary car in SCCA ages ago. They are super fun.

I jumped the gun at 35 with my "midlife crisis" car.

2013 C6 Base 3LT purchased summer 2022 and sold it out of frustration summer 2023. Car wound up being a complete headache even though it had only 42k miles and was owned by a 60-year-old lady that putted around town in it.

Harmonic balancer needed replacing which I was already aware of (common problem). Then the torque tube went bad. Then the fuel smell when parked began due to a crack in the fuel pump hat. Then the HVAC started clicking incessantly which requires a dash-out repair. And the body needed some serious paint work. GM stopped carrying parts for the C6 so you had to either find a junkyard/eBay or hope an aftermarket company made what you needed.

I do admit it was a fun car for the short amount of time I owned and was able to drive it. Had the shop install a cam when the harmonic balancer was replaced because they were already in there. Then had them install long tube headers when the torque tube was replaced because again, they were already in there. It had the chrome star fish wheels from factory but I was able to find NIB machine faced wheels from an online seller.

Will maybe purchase another one some day but a Grand Sport.

I went with the 23 BRZ. Toyota dealers were a nightmare to deal with to get a GR86 and I previously had a 13 BRZ. Sold the 16 Wrangler and now drive the 06 Tacoma in the winter months while the BRZ is in hibernation.

It’s not a 997.2 GT3 but close enough. 2014 Cayman S 3.4 6 speed. Just need approval from the wife.

    Wow...this sounds so familiar.

This is exactly why I did not go Corvette again and I was looking at ZR1 or a well built Z06. When you step up to the GS or above trim packages the cars are stupid fun but it comes at a price. The C6 is my favorite generation. There's just something about the body lines (especially on the ZR1).

The amount of money needed to make a C6 rip reliably long term is mind boggling. Torque tube, clutch, heads (ls7/9), transmission, interior, and the list goes on. I guess if you leave them totally stock the chances are higher for long term reliability.
    IMG_6553.png IMG_6554.png IMG_6555.png

For this kind of pricing might as well go balls deep in a C8 Z06.

I guess MLC in most folks' mind seems to mean some sort of car, and while I did buy a sweet '88 911 twenty years ago, guitars are way more interesting to me these days. Here's a not inexpensive one from a year ago - a 1966 Gibson J200 which was owned by John Prine for twenty years. Plus it's one of the most beautiful instruments I've ever seen or photographed. You're not lying. I've adored the body lines of a C6 Corvette since the day they were released, especially those of the wide body Z06 and Grand Sport. The lines from the side profile swoop up and down just right and that low, aggressive front fascia/hood/head light combo. Such a beautiful car that I feel is unmatched in appearance.

I was originally looking for a silver Grand Sport before purchasing that base model. It belonged to the mother of my employer and she was wanting to move on to something else. It was bone stock, didn't even have window tint. She didn't drive it much and when she did, she didn't drive it like either you or I would. :rofl:She sold it to me for what I felt was a good price but it just wound up having more problems than I anticipated. Ultimately it was the difficulty of finding replacement parts that made me decide to cut my losses before dumping more money into it. It wasn't exactly what I wanted and I said I'd never buy a black car again but did anyhow.

After only ever owning Mustang's as a sports car, it was insane to me how much power could be coaxed out of that LS3 without going forced induction. It would take way more $$$ building up a 4.6L or 5.4L modular motor and even then you'd have to go forced induction to match it (current Coyote engine excluded).

I'm still not a fan of the C8. And definitely not a fan of the busted Transformer looking C7.

ETA: Damn, didn't realize you could grab a used C8 Z06 below $100k now!
