Ok. So KDSS was only available through the sport package? Then you get the black or dark wood interior too?

Were any years of the 470 considered better than the others?

Kdss was available by itself in 2004. Sport models started in 2005.

Some say 2003-2004 is better because the engine is more basic.

2005 and newer has vvti which has a little bit more power.

I personally like vvti. Can’t really go wrong with any years though.

I hear the cam seal replacement on 05+ is a bitch. Guess I’ll be finding out soon enough...

Gotcha. Same as the 1st gen Tundra then. VVTI in 05-06. My 02 doesn't have it. The 4.7L is a great engine.

KDSS was a standalone option starting in 04. Sports models have it but it doesn't have to be a Sport to have it.

Thanks. So back to my original question, what's the quickest way to spot it if I were to go look at one?

Look at the sway bars. It’s instantly noticeable. KDSS bars are like 2” in diameter and have hydraulic end links one one side.

front sway bar has a hydraulic ram and is attached to the lower control arm versus the spindle on a traditional setup.

Thanks guys. I wasn't sure if there was any sort of switch inside. I didn't know if any sort of manual adjustment could be made by the driver but it seems the KDSS function happens automatically. Still undecided if I'll eventually get my wife a GX470 or 460.

So... what are the MUST do mods that you've done? I'm seriously considering the rear table

Snorkel. Rear table is pointless IMO when camp tables are so cheap.

No snorkel. On your spidertrax, did you select the 96+ T4R ones?

Don't run just 2 spacers in the front...looks ridiculous having uneven offset and triggers me.

Linda listen, I have NEVER used them before. Certain vehicles have a frame where front assemblies stick out further than rear ones (GM immediately comes to mind). Wasn't sure if the GX was one such vehicle.
