Thanks for the response as this was what I was thinking. The cheap route would be to purchase/install the full bushing kit from Energy. The Energy kit includes ALL the bushings (UCA, LCA, Track bars, sway bars etc) for $250. The Whiteline/SPC route runs about $700 and leaves me room to go with a lift in the future. Anything else I should purchase/repair while in there (cam tabs/gussets etc)?

Just drove to dinner and listening close had me wondering if the noises I'm hearing are due to LCA/UCA or other suspension components like shock bushings, sway bars etc. Is there an easy way to narrow it down? I suppose I could remove the coil over assembly, lube the top hat and lower bushing to see if it makes the noise disappear. Any other hints to help pinpoint the noises?

I have a huge squeak coming from the front end. I think I have it narrowed down to the outter swaybar bushings on the KDSS swaybar. I at first thought it was the UCA bushings and I lubbed those up and it didn’t change anything.

Good to know. Maybe I'll do the Energy swaybar bushings first as they are cheaper than the other options.

Anyone ever get the P0430 (catalyst system efficiency below threshold bank 2) code on their GX? Couple of months ago my GX blew a spark plug, so I ended up taking that time to change all the spark plugs, a couple of the ignition coils, followed by changing the air filter, cleaning the MAF sensor, and changing out all 4 02 sensors.

A month went by with no check engine light, but within the last month, it has been only the P0430 code that kicks on for a few hundred miles before it turned off for another couple hundred miles. I replaced the B2/S2 02 sensor again just to see if it was maybe faulty, but P0430 just came back on again, and definitely feels sluggish/weird when braking or accelerating at times.

Is it time for a new catalytic converter or is there another trick I should try?

Not familiar, but I would search the Facebook group for something like that, I'm positive there will be info on it.

Got the RTT mounted for the season and practiced some social distancing this last weekend. Got to spend the weekend away from the masses with the wife and dogs...

Looking good! I haven’t taken mine offroad much the last month or so since the fishing season is heating back up. I still have the stupid P0430 code on, but the truck drives great.

Yeah, I still have my snow tires on, so nothing major yet. Snowed here today, so delaying the transfer for another week or so. My sway bars or other suspension bushings are starting to make more noise. I think that I may need to start taking the Taco to work and laying up the GX for a bit so I can fix it.

I’ve been debating getting a second car myself. Stuck on the factor between using the money for a gas saver or just putting that money back into the GX and running it as my primary vehicle until I sell it one day. Don’t blame you for using the taco as the DD for awhile.
And thanks! It’s taken me awhile to get over the color for the most part, and I still have a bit of a love/hate with it, but oh well. If I were to get another one, it would be black forsure.

    Still thinking about it.
Hi guys. Nice rigs! I'm hoping one of you might like to tell me how these fit into the Toyota family tree? I'd rather not look on Wikipedia and think I learned something that may not be true..

The Lexus GX470 platform is a Landcriuser J120 prado. In English, it means that the GX470 is essentially a 4th generation 4runner with all the options. Powertrain is the 4.7L V8 with full time 4wd and center diff lock.

@Gen1FTMFW pretty much nailed it. The other cool thing is they are (imo) SUPER undervalued...even now with how much the “overland” crowd has started finding them. $10k can still get you a one or two owner, totally un-abused grocery getter GX with a good service history. The 4.7 is probably one of the most reliable engines Toyota has ever made too.

In addition, the sport model comes with a few extra features that make it highly coveted. The dark trim and dark leather are the biggest benefit with the sport, but darker wheels/headlights/taillights/roof-rack and KDSS are an additional bonus. The holy grail of GX's (imo) is a sport that doesn't have the Mark Levinson touch screen.

I gave up looking for a sport model before I bought my current GX. It is such a perfect combo, but I’ve seen maybe one or two on CL since I bought mine a couple years ago. Super rare!

Also avoid the models that have navigation. Way out dated and way to hard to convert to aftermarket head unit.
