Great, thanks! Just tweaking my steps before I replace mine Wednesday. Just trying to cover everything and not leave any steps out.

Awesome thanks. Gonna tackle the ECGS bushing install too while I'm in the drivers side, I have the ECGS removal tool and bushing install kit. But Any tips on CV removal then replacement? I don't have a slide hammer, was curious if it's easy to reinstall? Not too worried about removing it, I know you can pry on it at a certain spot and it seems to "pop" out, just not sure how easy it is to "pop" back in.

Does it pop in just with elbow grease force, or do you have to persuade it in by hitting it?

A pry bar will get the cv out of the diff -- that's how I've always done it. As far as getting it back in, get the splines lined up and give it a good push. You'll know when it's in

Go ahead and replace the oil seal at the diff when you do the ECGS bushing.

Thanks for the replies Joe :)

    I have a 08 4R
A few months ago I had front passenger wheel bearing replaced. Shortly after I got ABS codes, which I ignored for a while but after failing to clear them with new sensor I found today that the abs ring inside is separated. I don't know if it was installer error or bad parts (they were supposed to buy OEM) but since I've driven a lot since they did the work I doubt they will cover it. So I think I need one of your hubs (this time I will do it my self to make sure it's done right). I assume the ABS rings are integral and can't be repaired, and all I need is swap the new hub in and everything will work?

I have seen an ABS light due to that ABS ring being distorted. I would have to say the shop didn't have the correct collar to support the bearing race while pressing the hub flange in. You can try to even out the ring but you will probably destroy the seal. I would have the shop warranty the bearing if possible. If not I can get an assembly to you, not a problem. You need to rent a torque wrench capable of 173 ft/pd's for that 35mm axle nut -- other than that it's basic hand tools.

I think you're my safest bet. If I paypal you today when do you think I'll receive the hub? (07504)

Placed my order today. Are the hubs still shipping with the 35mm nuts and pins? I thought you were out but figured I'd ask. Also, what's your estimate on when they'll ship for an order placed today?

Classic symptoms: progressive pitch groaning sound, no change in 4H, etc. It has gotten much louder in the past few weeks where I can hear it over the radio (talk radio, not excessively loud). On my way back home from an errand this afternoon I actually felt a quick grab or two coming from the left front along with a bit of a grinding noise. So I fear they are close to giving up on me. 87000 miles on my '09. Probably about time anyway. At first I thought it was my new tires, but they are Michelin LTX MS2s and those are supposed to be quiet.

It's very easy to check for bad bearing - jack up that side and grab the wheel and try to shake it in all directions.

I replaced my right side at 88,000 miles on my 2009...now the left one is failing at 90,000 lol. :(

Not always the case. Neither of mine had/have any play...just make groaning noises that get louder and louder the longer i wait.

I know that's part of the diagnostic process but I agree, the wheel play check was probably more useful when we had loose bearings and thrust washers. With cartridge bearings by the time they develop that much play you probably already have pieces running wild in there.

nj636, sent you a pm yesterday about placing an order. I think I've been riding on a bad one for a bit, so figure I'd better get them swapped out soonest! :p
