Replaced the (recycled passenger) driver's side bearing assembly in 35 minutes flat last Tuesday morning with the new one. Didn't even have time for a beer since it is so easy on a PreRunner. Once you've done it, you know exactly which tools to lay out before your begin and just go after it non-stop.

Much quieter now with both front wheel bearing assemblies replaced with new ones from Kevin. The wife and I then went on a 150 mile road trip to Louisiana that afternoon to blow some money at the casinos for her birthday.

Still have some annoying road noise at various speeds from the BFG AT's but that is my fault. Waited too long (25k+ miles) before I rotated them the first time and they have definitely taken a set. That was about 5k miles ago and I'll have them rotated again this week to see if that helps. For what it's worth, tire noise can often imitate a bad bearing.

Overall, however, the road trip was the quietest we've experienced in quite a while thanks to the new bearings. Truck was super quiet at speeds 70+ mph which is interesting in itself I suppose.

A big THANKS to Kevin and his product. Replace both assemblies, inner seals, pads and rotors yesterday morning. Took just over five hours,(noob) biggest problem...(believe it or not) was getting the axle hubs off. Brake pins was a PITA also. Rides much quieter now.

 glad you made out alright. 2.5 hours each side isn't bad at all especially for a first time. getting the original hubs off can be a bear and that dust seal can be a pain as well.

thanks for the feedback and I'm glad your happy :D

You wouldn't happen to have 3 spare studs hanging around would you?
I need three for my spare tire carrier on my bumper - the thread size is an oddball metric. :/

This is probably a stupid question, but is there some reason you can't just bolt a 4wd hub onto a 2wd?.....

Not a stupid question, it has been asked before.

The 2wd PreRunner hub flange, unlike the 4x4, is threaded and is retained by a large nut that is torqued to a specific number. The torque setting is what keeps the proper amount of load on the bearing, and is needed for the longevity of the bearing. If that nut is improperly torqued, the bearings life will be decreased significantly.

The 4wd hub flange is pressed into the bearing the same way as the PreRunner, but the cv shaft/axle nut is what retains the hub flange. The axle nut is torqued to a specific number.

If you bolt a 4wd hub assembly onto a PreRunner, not only will the bearing fail quickly, but the hub flange would eventually work its way out of the bearing

Thanks Kevin for making my life easier. Hub came in the mail today and I wasted no time in installing it. Using your pre assembled unit made replacing the right front wheel bearings on my Prerunner very simple. I had thought about rebuilding the old one to have on hand when the left side went out but after seeing the assembly I'll gladly pay you for your labor and expertise.

Thanks for keeping me up to date on the progress of my order and using priority mail.

    Jim
