So are you saying you have to disassemble the spindle from the top UCA and the hub to get the bearing cartridge out? Much more expensive I suppose to?

you can remove the bearing with a puller or remove the entire spindle and press everything out

    Hi Kev.

I found you through Joe Gibbons on the FJ Northeasters forum. My FJ has approx. 170K mi on it and had one bearing changed at around 70K. My guess is I should atleast have bearings on hand when one goes I can just replace both.
The downside is I am in New Brunswick Canada. I was wondering if you could work me up a quote to ship me two bearings to postal code E5N 4L1.

    Really appreciate it.

    Brian

I have my spindles connected to Camburg UCA's with that Uni ball and that was a bitch to put together. So I am thinking that puller would be easier. What is your opinion?

Subed, i think that mine are gone. Not sure how to test them, but I think I hear a grinding noise when cruising at around 30 mph.

lift the front end of the truck.

•spin the tire by hand, listen for the grinding noise

•grab the tire at 12 & 6, push/pull -- any movement in the hub indicates a worn bearing

Hub arrived yesterday and is of good quality - installed in under an hour....Thanks Kev!
Will drive tonight and see if whine/hum goes away. Loading either side did not change sound and wheels were not loose when checked. Grinding noise only heard when lifted and tire spun.

before, I could hear the noise just driving straight & turning left. Turning right noise went away. When I pullet front tires off, front left was noisy when I spun it. As if bearing was dry. Firestone quoted $900 ea side. I decided to order both fronts. Ones gone, soon the other might go too.

Put them on last night. Wow! Truck rolls smooth ones again..

Great quality parts... Thx for making these, it was so easy to replace.

Just ordered mine the other day and can't wait! Been rolling around with a bad drivers side hub for way to long. Can't wait to drive around without having to worry about my tire breaking off!

Ha, this guy had the same shop instructor in high school that I did! We were taught so many "wrong ways" to do stuff back in the 80's.

Oofa $900 per side! And I highly doubt they have the SST to remove the nut on the Prerunner hub, which means they can't torque the nut.

Glad you've got a reliable truck again.
