    This may be a silly question... but I am shopping for new wheels and most of the ones I like dont have a capacity over 3,000lbs, the trailer I haul is much heavier than that.

    does wheel capacity directly correlate with the weight of what you are hauling?

    I would think that the wheel capacity is for the actual downward force on the wheels. The only downward force that's applied from the trailer is tongue weight, which isn't more than a few hundred pounds.
