So I’m looking at ordering some Moto Metal MO970’s and I’m wanting them to stick out a little bit but don’t know the first thing about offset. It says the offset is -12 on the ones I’m looking at and I’ve tried googling images for rims with a -12 offset but just found all kinds of different things and was just wanting to get a for sure answer before ordering.

I may be wrong but if I remember correctly I think the SR5s have a +24 or +25 offset on the stock wheels, so a -12 offset will push each wheel out about 1.5 inches from their current position. I currently have -12 offset SCS wheels on my truck and they sit pretty flush with the aftermarket flares (they're further out than stock) that are installed.

Do you care to post a pic of it so I can check it out. Offset is one thing I can say I’m absolutely clueless about

I'll try to grab a pic here shortly, I don't think I have any straight on (or close to it) pics to give a good idea of the pooch. Let me check.

Let me say thanks for this. I had a couple diagrams saved with backspace and offset to figure what I need, but being able to see the difference is great. Had to find my stock OR wheels to see but now it’s all good.

This link is similar but also allows you to check out different rim sizes too. Came in handy when I was exploring going from 16" to 17" rims with various widths and offsets

Offset is just the distance from center of wheel to the mounting pad.
If the mounting pad is outboard of center, it is a positive offset.
If the mounting pad is inboard of center, it is a negative offset.

However, you want to know about poke.
In that regard, offset is useless without the width.

    Here's another calculator...

IMO -12 is a nice offset on these trucks. Will stick out slightly past your stock fenders. I have a -10 on my wheels. 17x8.5.

What size tires are you running. I’m debating between 285/75 16s and 285/75 17s. Still looking into how much I might have to chop and if can be (easily) done on a 6112/5160 with 6/5 and no UCA.

265/70/17. I will be going with the 6112/5160 combo soon myself. Probably bump up to a 285/70/17 at that time also. I know a CMC and some trimming will be necessary.

285/60 R18 on a 3x2 rough country leveling lift (coil overs in the front blocks in the back). I have not changed UCA/LCA.

The front is a stock 16x7.5” +25 offset. The rear is a 17x8.5” 0 offset. So an 8.5” wide -12 rim will stick out 12mm more than that. The bottom picture is with a stock wheel on the rear too.
