yes he did remove the fender flares, but he also cut the fender and did a cab mount chop. just figured it would give the op some idea of the modifications he may have to do to fit 305's.

ok, did what i should have initially and used some of the great info here and elsewhere on the net to determine how to size a tire/wheel package. comments such as "a 265 is 32",a 285 is 33" appear to be simplistic and not fully true. using genxer36's sticky and the tiresize calculator here, i learned that the sidewall height specs also play an important role in determining the overall diameter. hope this helps someone else as well;)

That is true. Not all 285's are 33's, nor are al; 265's 32's.

The oversimplification comes from the fact that the common tires sizes that fit our trucks are as follows:

    without lift:
    265/75/16
    265/70/17
    265/65/18 <-----all 32's.

    With 3" lift:
    285/75/16
    285/70/17
    285/65/18 <----all 33's.

The one exception you'll see on here from time to time is that you Can fit a 285/60/18 without a lift. It is a 285 width tire, but only a 32".

[sarcasm]Information on the internet is always 100% correct.[/sarcasm]

This thread about wheels and tires in the 2nd gen Tacoma section is a winner. KPT, solving wheel and tire combo problems and on a daily basis.

    yeah stock UCA.
    my 285/70-17 Revo 2's measures 32.8 tall & 8.6 wide.

The only rub is in reverse full wheel lock going over a bump. I was going to cut off that little bump hanging down off the inner wheel well but it hits so rarely that i'm not worried about it.

I'm running 285/65/18 on a 4.5" bs rim and running mud flaps. It took some work trimming, but I trimmed a little at a time until I had zero rub. I had to cut a notch out of the mud flaps to get rid of the rubbing on them. Keep in mind that I'm all highway. If you off road and get in some flexing situations, you might still rub the flaps pretty bad.
