I’ve got the same TRD suspension kit waiting for install and am struggling to decide on springs. These Wheelers look good but I’m worried about how noisy they may be. Are they better than OME Dakars? Can anyone answer that?

I don't know anything about the Dakars, so I can't tell you anything about them. But, I've drove around a couple of days so far on mine "Wheeler hd 5 pack". And I don't notice any noise from them, even going down dirt/gravel roads etc. No noise, at least not yet. Hope it stays that way.

Did you post pics in that thread with the pro suspension and 5 leaf? I must have missed it

Did the OME Dakars make noise immediately? Or did it take a little time? So far the springs from wheelers are still quiet.

I haven’t bought the Dakar’s yet. I have everything else for my lift but am still shopping for leaf springs. Just reading the big threads around here on them making lots of noise. I think it takes a little time for them to get noisy. A few months or so with off-roading and winter weather seems to trigger them. I’m just looking for a quiet alternative if it exists. Choices seem pretty limited for full leaf packs: Dakars, Wheeler 5 leaf and 8 leaf, Deavers ($$$), Toytec Boss leafs. That’s all I’ve really found and feedback on anything other than the Dakars is limited. Deavers lose load capacity unless you get the expedition which is too much for me.

Originally I was going to buy the Allpor springs. But, I really didn't want 4" of lift. I wasn't really after lift at all. Just a better leaf spring for the rear that would be able to handle weight. I did end up with just a little less than 2 inches. It doesn't bother me that bad. but my wife sure let me know about it.

1.5-2” is what I’m after. Plus I want overload springs. I have 1” of rake now, when I add the front lift I’ll need ~2” of lift to keep my rake. I have a bike rack and lots of stuff in the back when we go on family trips. Don’t want that sagging it out. Eventually I’ll get a small travel trailer, but that’s a few years out. I can get bigger leafs then if needed. I am planning to get the u-bolt flip kit and SuperBump also.

Check out the Icon RXT Leaf Pack. You can add or remove leaves according to your load

Thanks, I’ve looked at the RXT’s. Pricy and the rear shocks I just got likely don’t have enough extension for them.

Sounds like we're in the same boat. I'm questioning if the squeeze is worth the juice for the Icons and I'm not sure if the droop would be a problem. Was thinking of the Dakars with the ubolt flip kit and timbrem bumpstops as an alternative.

Headstrong has a Dakar package with u-bolts, carrier shim, poly bushings, etc... for $550 shipped free. Then I can add the flip kit from wheeler with bumpstops for ~$220. So for $70 more than the RXT’s I feel it’s a better package, plus I’ll have to pay to ship the RXT’s. I’m not going to be super flexing my truck to justify the RXT’s. I just want a solid ride that won’t sag and that is quiet. The Wheeler 5 pack leaf is ~$50 cheaper than the Dakars but Wheeler charges shipping. The cost differences across all options are fairly minimal in the big picture and I’ll pay a premium if I know it will be quiet and meet my needs. Saving $150 only to spend my free time trying to quiet creaky, squeaky, leaf packs doesn’t sound like a great value to me. Waiting on more long term feedback on this 5pack.

You can do this with any leaf pack. Icons marketing is making it seem like this is a new thing and easy to do. But you still have to remove breakdown the leaf pack and remove a leaf. OME has been doing this for a while with AAL of removing leaves for load or height on the Dakar’s.

Wheelers always calculates shipping after you order, or you can request a quote before hand. I don’t know if they ship a leaf pack for free.

for those of you following along at home, I contacted Wheelers and they informed me that their WHE AAL42 leafs -made for the 8 leaf pack- fit the 5 leaf as well for additional support and ride height. they are to be installed between the 3rd and 4th leafs. With my constant weight, I got 1.25 left and and 1.5 right. I'm loading the truck for a 2k mile trip tomorrow and will take additional measurements. if the truck ends up with negative rake, I'll pull the packs and install the extra leaf after the trip. I'm pleased that the pack is supported for customization.

After driving a bit with this pack and Bilstein 5160s, I'm very satisfied. It's stout and compliant at the same time. After inspecting the 4 thick standard leaves and massive overload, I expected it to be quite harsh.

I'm glad you mentioned that about the AAL's. I'll have to keep that in mind.

Any update on this leaf pack? Are they quiet? I won’t have much load on mine, just a shell and ~7 months a year I’ll have a bike rack with 3-4 bikes (300 lbs or so) on weekends. Looking for 1.5-2” of lift.
