Does anyone else Passenger wheel stick out the side further than the driver's side? I walked out to my truck today and say it.

not unless the frame is tweaked make sure the wheel is centered and you are on a flat surface and check again

Hi David. Did you figure out what the problem is? I just noticed the same thing (driver side sticks out further) on the '04 I recently bought to replace my crushed '97. Very odd. It doesn't drive odd like a whacked frame or alignment issue but I get some intermittent, hard to hear groan at higher speeds. -Matt

Hey no i don't know whats going on with it. But everything seems to be working fine. I might take a good look at it during the christmas break from work. 7 days a week for the past 3 months leaves me little time to play with my truck.

Crawl under the truck and start looking around.

Check your u-bolts and make sure nothing has shifted. Check to make sure your centering pins aren't busted. Check your shackles...make sure everything is tight and not broken. Check your leaf springs, make sure they're not bent, etc etc

It could also be the body mounted a little off center.

That's normal - all 1st gens are like that.
If I remember.... one of them is angled towards the cab and the other one is angled towards the tailgate.

I checked out my rear leaf springs and the right side of all 4 spring clips have been bent outwards towards the passenger side and the springs have fanned out a bit. What the heck is that? Buying a used truck leads to some weird mysteries. I can't think of any reason that this would have happened outside a big impact to the rear suspension or some deliberate tampering. The carfax only showed an accident involving a deer and all the sheet metal and paint is definitely original. Has anyone seen this and could it be the cause of the problem? I'm a woodworker more than a mechanic but can the leaf pack be realigned? Thanks in advance for any help. -Mat
