Yes there are quite a few brands of 16's that won't fit without grinding the calipers.

Actually, these are 17's and the rub isn't at the rim but "spoke" area...I was wondering how much polishing I can do, or are spacers required...

back to the original question, there is a list on TTORA for the first gens...

the most notorious wheel that has had clearance issues for the past 14 years is the Cragar Soft8... the dimple dies on the holes hit the brake vein on the first gens...

solutions to this have been wheel spacers, and for the bold, shaving 1/16" off the vein, but screw that up and you are looking at about $350+ for new rotors, etc...

historically, 4wheelparts has gone with the disclaimer that no 15" wheel will fit a tacoma, but that's a generic disclaimer they give to avoid any returns...

their 15x8 rock crawler D windows and streetlocks will clear...

unfortunately, they don't offer the ideal backspace on their wheels, so you may still be better off looking elsewhere...

Wheelers has some great looking wheels, and they come in 15x8 and guaranteed to fit tacomas... [IMG]
