I'm wanting to hear different opinions of when is it time to stop putting money into a car for you?

It never stops. Just when I thought I was done with my build, something new always pops up that you "need"

Or when the money stops flowing in. In which case you can rob a bank like this guy to continue your build

It all depends on repair or repairs necessary, milage and condition of said vehicle.

Cars hold no value in general,so after about 5 years old, they are not worth putting money into them, unless they are a very desirable car.

For me, the limit is to what i would want the truck to look like. Depends on your financial situation and living situation, but if upgrading your taco is your passion then I would say keep doing. Just remember that's its ok to take breaks sometimes so you don't spend so much money all at once...space it out.

My coworker just put 7000$ + into a T100 at the toyota dealer for a new engine and a few other things.
He is stoked that he can continue driving his favorite truck. I guess the dollar amount is different for everyone and every vehicle.
I tried to convince him to find a low mile first gen taco but he really loves his truck.

For me, when it becomes unreliable, nickle and dimes you to death.

I used to think it was cheaper to maintain an old vehicle vs purchasing a newer vehicle...not always the case.

Easy...When you sell it or total it. Otherwise it'll never end always going to have to maintenance your vehicle. It just depends on how comfortable you are with the issues and if you can safely operate the vehicle or "ignore" the issue if its not safety related.

2006 Subaru Forester, original owner, car still drives great with 320K kms on it. Occasionally I do have to fix something but as long as the engine and tranny keep going I am happy. After 13 years stuff does wear out. No plans to sell it. Kids can beat it up now.
