I have a 2017 Limited Taco and the seats drive me nuts. I am thinking of a 4Runner but am concerned there might be a complete redesign soon. I'd hate to buy a 2018 and then the 2019 be a completely different vehicle.

Anyone know when the 4Runner redesign is coming?

Wife is in need of a bigger vehicle. I'd hate to buy a new runner just to have a really cool updated version come out.

2020 maybe 2021. 2019 has already been announced with the 5th gen body.

Pretty sure it is the same design since they unveiled the 2019 4Runner Pro and it has the same design as the current ones. Maybe the 2020 4Runner will have a redesign?

A while back another member posted the schedule for Toyota’s redesign and update of vehicles, 4runner was 2020 or 2021 if I recall correctly.

Next one will be driverless, with no low end torque whatsoever. I’d get in while the getting in’s good.

If it’s only the seats that you hate, I believe someone around here successfully swapped the seats of his taco. Might be an option?

Another went to a custom upholstery shop and was happy with the alterations.

I would have been on the same boat had I gotten the sunroof, but I opted for the non sunroof model and am pleased.

The 4Runner is going on 9 years without a redesign, 6 since it was refreshed, and it’s gaining pore popularity each year.
The land cruiser and sequoia are both on 10 years.
New tundra is going to drop at the Chicago auto show next year..maybe a new sequoia the following year, and then a 4Runner the year after?
Who really knows at this point. Toyota has been pretty unpredictable with their trucks and suv’s

fall of 2018 will mark 10yrs on the current gen (5th gen debut was fall of 2009, refresh was in 2014).

currently the 3rd gen tundra came out in fall of 2006 (2007 model year) with a refresh in 2014 and a slight update in 2018. current timeline for the tundra is fall of 2020 (21 model year) which will push the current gen out to 13 yrs which is historically the longest a gen has run in the Toyota usa market.

its is looking that the 4runner will push out to maybe fall of 2019 (2020 model year) but rumors is that its really pushed to fall of 2020 (2021 model year).

if any indications are from the 2019 Avalon (they moved it to an 8 spd transmission) I am guessing they are holding out to moving the 4runner to the 8 spd.

there is talk about trying to get android auto on board but they are still working to get the kinks out (trying to get android to bend to Toyota requirements of privacy).

they finally got apple carplay into 2019 Avalon but Toyota said they are still working to get android auto on board (that was sorta paraphrased from a video I saw this weekend).

other rumors on Toyota is that 2019/2020 camry will get awd along with the Avalon coming down the pipe with awd.

I was looking at the new Avalon touring coming out next year and dam does it look really good, 301 hp and around 267 ft/lbs torque. but the fwd has too much torque steer if you really do any WOT jaunts.

the new camry is looking very nice exterior and interior especially on the XSE v6 model. there is also an option for a hud on the camry now.
