The nice thing about Maglite sized lights is the capacity that D cell batteries have. A typical AA cell battery flashlight will put out ~150 lumens for 60-90 minutes of constant run time, while a D cell flashlight will put out the same amount of light with a better throw (bigger reflector = better throw) for ~30 hours. That's a big difference. That being said, I have a Fenix P2D in my pocket right now. :D

Mini Mag and Cheapo led velcroed to console, also have a led mine in the glovebox with a cheap led headband and 2 other cheapo leds also have a 3D mag behind the rear seat in the crappy OEM holder that always is unsnaping from it's place.

with the development of led's... i log ago rid myself of the giant, heavy flashlight, for a smaller, much much MUCH brighter one that lasts 100x as long (unless you got a new leg mag light!!). i do realize there's other reasons to have one in your truck however... (too heavy for that actually)..

Speaking from experience as a retired NYPD cop ( I hope the statue of limitations is up ) the maglite makes a great defensive weapon. one good whack and down he goes.:D

I cut some wires here. Added some wires there.
The regular Maglite with an aftermarket led upgrade is the way to go. You can get the light and reliabilty you're looking for, along with battery life, for 1/3rd the price of Surefire or Streamlight.

Are all you folks afraid of the dark or something. Lol. Jokes aside. I keep a head lamp in the truck. It more pratical to have your hands free. And as far as giving someone a knock on the knoggin. Well thats what the asp baton is for

Fits nice and snug. No screws, no ordering brackets, and no sliding out under your feet if you jam on the breaks. Hasn't budged in 2 years unless I want it to.

I just put my 3D LED Mag in the glovebox. Barely fits and isn't the best way to keep it, but it works. My 4D stays in my tool box and my mini one stays in the cubby below the climate controls.

Just put mine on the floorboard under the drivers seat between the seat and the center console. Fits perfectly, doesn't rattle or roll around, and easy to get to.
