On mine, it was a cream color. It could be tucked up behind the control box, or up behind another cable.

I have an '09 Tacoma w/ factory tow package. I too am having a heck of a time locating the connector. Searched twice now and felt all around under dash and still having trouble locinging the connection point. Do you have pictures by chance.? That wouldtruly help.

Mine was jammed up behind the bundle of wires going into the fire wall. I could actually only see about 4 mm of it, and I had to dig in and work it out. It was a royal PITA, and was hidden good.
