I purchased the clutch switch (below) for my 2010 manual transmission Tacoma, however I cannot find the "correct" plug that plugs into the switch. I posted pics the "Adding cruise control?" thread here starting with post #35 showing where I originally thought the plug was located but all 3 were wrong. Does anyone have any pics of the wire that is connected to their clutch switch? Or better yet .. a pic of the switch taped to a wire before it was plugged in?

PaTacodawg sent me a pic of his clutch switch which came from the vertical wire harness shown on the pic he sent me below, however my vertical harness does not have the clutch plug taped to it. Here is the switch, PaTacodawg's pic and my pic for comparison.

Can anyone unravel (pardon the pun) this mystery? I've spent a total of 60 minutes or so searching for this plug 6 times now and would truly appreciate anyone's help.

    Thanks in advance!

I've been under my dash looking for this elusive white clutch switch "plug" 10 times or more by now for the past 5 days and I still cannot locate it anywhere. So could it possibly be that there were no clutch switch "plugs" provided in a "manual" 2010 Tacoma?? I can't imagine that. Some members here have indicated that the clutch plug exists in their "automatic" Tacomas. So how could it not be available in my manual truck? The wire should be somewhere near the top where the clutch hits the switch when released.

I live in the Trenton NJ area, so Is there anyone close by in the Central NJ or Eastern PA area who knows where to locate the clutch plug? I'll come to you. If not, I guess I can bring it to a dealer and have them search for it.

    Thanks in advance!

Did you ever figure this out? I was under the pedals and couldnt find much. I've seen some posts talking about taking the lower dash cover off to gain better access. Have you tried that?

Hello Meconium … No, I haven't located the plug and I gave up at this point. I looked everywhere .. I also took off the lower dash cover and it did not help in my case.

No .. I never located the plug and gave up .. at least for now. I had two shoulder replacements since then .. and waiting until my 2nd shoulder is fully healed. I will certainly report back here if I do find it .. that's for sure :)

Have you taken the lower dash apart? Mine was tucked behind the wire loom taped off.

It's also possible you're not prewired for it. Did you try jumping the pin on the steering wheel? If you're wired it'll light up

I tried it both ways ..with the lower dash apart and without. I already installed the special wire needed for the cruise stalk. So now when I turn on cruise, the "Cruise" light lights up on my dash. But that's all.

it all varies. Some are wired from the ECM to the clock spring. Others do not. Most, unless they have factory cruise don’t have the clutch disengagement switch wiring harness. So you have to wire that and pin the ECM. Again the instructions for that are in with the Rostra manual. I know because I’ve done a few. I installed professionally for 15 years

Question for the group…my 2011 base model has a clutch switch, since it won’t start unless I fully depress the clutch pedal (although there is a bypass switch). Is this the a separate switch from one for the cruise control?

Yes trucks with cruise have 2 switches, the starter interlock/4wd low clutch safety that is depressed when the clutch pedal is down and the cruise cancel switch that is depressed when the clutch pedal is up.

I just ran into the same problem of not have the clutch switch wiring. Able to install the cruise stalk no problem. So i contacted Rostra to see if I can get there clip to plug into my toyota clutch switch I bought. Read there instructions. Just need a plug to go into my switch. Anyone have any ideas other that wait for Rostra to get back with me?

@kennybone ... Unfortuniately I have not found it. I basically gave up and hoping that someday, someone would take pics of the plug's location. Good luck to you!
