I get an error code on my OBD reader: P0500
Which refers to a malfunctioning speed sensor.
My speedometer/RPM meter also went out. (both are the same gauge)

I have looked all around google for the location of the actual sensor so I can take it out and replace it. People have said it's on the side of the transmission, by the wheel, etc. However I cannot find anything that resembles the sensor.

    I have an automatic 1996 Tacoma, V4, 4.2L, XCAB, 2 wheel drive.

i'm assuming the speed sensor is somewhere on the transmission and/or near the drive shaft ?

    any help, please! thanx
