    Does anyone know a good website or store fronts to buy a used engine for my 2016 Tacoma trd sport 2wd ?
    I seen websites for used engines but I am iffy about those websites I want to know if they’re legit before I spend like $4000 on a engine. I want to know if anyone has been in my situation and where they have bought their engine?
    I’m looking for an engine that has low miles and gives me a couple years of warranty. I’m located around the Orange County area. My truck right now has 76,000 miles on it. Help please!!

    Try LKQ or car-part.com

    What happened to your original engine?

    @Junkhead any ideas?

    Just buy a low mileage one from the salvage yard, usually they do 90 day warranty with an option for a year for a fee.

    Yea screw that. I'd rather buy a reman. But it depends on why and use. Is it worth it to spend more? For most people that's probably a no.

    Of course, I have no clue what a reman costs for this truck but in an f150 I did, it was about 4k for one with updated parts.

    I would stay away from LKQ. They are a very large corporation and don't do near the amount of testing on engines as more locally ran salvage yards. Team PRP and QRP are good networks across the country who compression test all engines that wont start after the wreck. Standard warranty from them is 6m/6k. Optional 12/12 and 24/24 part/labor warranties available at a cost. I'm not aware of any "reputable" aftermarket reman companies for these engines. I used to sell 2 Ford 5.4L 3V reman engines a day when the phasers were going out like crazy. AER was the best reman company in the nation with a 3y/100k part and labor warranty for $3200.

    Do you have any idea why this dudes engine went away?? No didn't think so!

    So why you hate on the dude when you have no clue of the circumstances?
    The guys in a pinch thats gonna cost him 4-5k plus labor to install. So how bout instead of you being a dick you offer him a little advice, if you don't have any then you should prob say nothing.

    Nope, but I’m definitely curious as to what happened to the original engine.

    Yeah, that is a legit question to be asking here. I assume the OP knows that his current motor is absolute toast, but then again maybe it ain't!

    Also good to let other people know because they may be in a similar situation.

    Helpful sort, aren't you? You have no clue but are more than willing to make any assumption necessary to fit your negative personality.

    What difference does it make, do you have a suggestion about where to get one to replace it?

    You do realize that not every single engine is this fan boy fantasy of 300k reliability you are referring to right? Sometimes shit happens. There have been more threads than I can count on this forum about early failures at no fault of the owner.

    I'm not placing blame on anyone. I don't know, or care why the engine blew early. But chances are VERY good that a Tacoma 4.0 will last 400,000+ miles. I realize shit happens. Unless the OP is planning to do the work himself, I'd find the mechanic I was using 1st and get his advice. But if I could locate one in a scrapyard with around 100,000 on it I'd go that route and plan on it lasting another 200,000-300,000 miles.
