I see you are in Orlando, I'm in Melbourne and here there is a salvage operation that only deals with quality late model parts,(so they are relatively local to you) Phone number 321-632-1788 I cant remember the name but I have used them twice and always came through, never a transmission but they aren't a you pull it operation, you call tell them what you need, show up and they have it ready for you, all they do is part out new-ish cars/trucks and if they dont have it they find it and ship to their businedd. good luck

Ehh my dad did this in the 70s, some how he blew up his first 22re in his 84 pickup, and he went through one of those replacements in 30k miles, he then got a factory one and it lasted for 250k more and it still running like a beast today.

IDK that was 40 years ago but still I would buy what I know is going to last.

Allan Phillips Racing makes a T-56 Tranny application for the 1GR-FE...:D its pricey but handle gobs of power...

there are only 2 guys I know of that have done the complete swap...the other person (Gadget from URD) is about to put all his parts together to complete the swap...

only other option is to get 1 from a junk yard...

Thanks for all the feedback guys, that is one thing I like about this site. The truck has 160k miles, I just got back into town im going to call the numbers to see what I can find out. I dont think i would try to do the swap myself. Far too many moving parts and there are not too many mobile mechanics to come bail you out if you fail.

There is like 20 around me in Northeast
Also did you try replacing filter in the tranny with some fresh fluid. I would do that first before spending money on new transmission
