My truck is an 08 DC with the JBL system. Does anyone know where I could hook up the "remote" wire from a new amp to the existing JBL amp wiring in the back? I've heard it's usually a blue wire with a white stripe or a white wire with a blue stripe. On the JBL amp in the back, I see on the middle plug, at the bottom a white wire with a blue stripe. Could this be it? Or do I need to plug into something keyed by the ignition (cig lighter, etc.)?

you need a wire that is keyed by the head unit being turned on.

Ok, to clarify.........does anyone know "which" wire coming from the factory JBL head unit I can use to hook up the "remote" to my new amp? My system has the amp and subwoofer in the back behind the rear seat. I have ordered a Scosche SLC-4 Line Converter to get the rca's needed. I'd rather not tear into the dash and was hoping that the factory amp had a remote power wire, but I cannot find a wiring diagram for the premium JBL system. Any help is greatly appreciated.

have you decided on an amp? some amps will use the rca signal to turn on. sorry i couldn't tell you which wire on your deck would work.

Thanks tacomajason......I'm going to start with a VR3 400 watt "walmart special" that's been sitting on my shelf for a couple years and a Pioneer TS-SW301 12-Inch shallow mount woofer. I've got the box built and waiting for the woofer and line converter to arrive. I'm just pre-planning & wiring while waiting for fedex. I'll upgrade the amp if the VR3 doesn't pan out. It worked ok in the last truck I had it in. I guess it wouldn't be hard to find a switched power source under the dash. I was just hoping to find something already back there from the HU that was turning on the factory amp.

RCA turnons suck, they have to have a certain amount of power, thereofore don't work at low volumes. Look on the forums here and do a search for the Tacoma Manuals, the wiring diagrams are in there.

I would think your scosche converter had it? Mine does!
