I've been looking at the 2nd Gen Tacoma for 2 years now and am going to take that exciting step January 07. Now I am having a difficult time deciding between the Trd offroad Package, giving me a compass and temp gage, or just a sr5 package with the dealership adding an aftermarket sunroof. I would lose the temp gauge and compass if I want the sunroof. What do you guys think and is there another option im not aware of? Im looking at this being a truck I keep for many years and want it to be something I enjoy continually.

None currently, but I would like a better sounding exhaust and perhaps a cold air pack and some color coded step bars
jaredmmc99, sounds great, I would love to have a sunroof, as I think they are the greatest. Be sure the installer really knows his stuff as the roof panel could have been made from thicker metal, at least in my opinion, 30yrs as a body man. However, Toyota is not alone on that subject.
I have a 06, 6spd sr5 with out the trd package. I did not want the off road, as I will not be going off road or into fields . I also wanted a smoother riding truck.
If you need the TRD package , giving up the compass and temp gage would be minor, but a nice thing to have.

Not sure about options, but your dealer should be able to fill you in or perhaps a call to TRD and see if they could give you advice.

Let us know when and what you order. I did drive a 07(same as o6) but decided on a 06 because it had everything I wanted, including a factory trailer hitch.

You could get the sr5 with sunroof and have a rearview miror installed that has a compass/thermometer in the corner. I think the Toyota homelink mirror has a thermometer, but no compass.

You posted this in an old thread. To get more attention you should start a new thread in the 3rd gen section. just click the link below and then click post new thread and it will go to the right place. Can’t help on your trucks issue but someone out there will be able to.
