I am working on a similar setup and have a question related to the thread topic. I am hooking the main power for the footwell lighting up to a switch (connected to a relay in the engine bay (bussman setup). The lights I chose are wired up as seen in the picture below.

The "auxiliary wire" has a (+) and (-) on it and can be tapped into the dome light source, separate from the main power, to act as a switch for the lights to come on and off with dome or door lights. Would this just be the same blue and yellow wires as in the first post? Is there another location where I could tap into to achieve the same effect (that may not require removing the A-pillar as I already have all the meso puddle light equipment shoved in there and I'd like to avoid removing it all again)?

    Great information.
    2017 OR
I have an SPOD bantam in the engine bay and rock lights installed.
I currently use the SPOD as a switch.
With the ideas around Taco World, I’d like to use a trigger (pos) or (neg) from the dome light (hoping for something in the engine bay that reflects that action) to trigger the Bantom to turn rock lights on.
found the dome fuse is constant after trying the easy tap adapter with the 7.5 fuse;and seeing I can splice in the A pillar.

    questions to the knowledge:
    1. Anything in the engine bay to duplicate the dome action? ( research is showing no)
    2. If not, How to find the (preferable) neg dome light in the a pillar? Seems it’s not always blue.

Blue is (+), the dome circuit is negatively switched Yellow or Beige, depending location in vehicle.
Use the Bed Cargo Lamp switch. (-) Purple. Get parts and assemble a Y harness.

I seem to have the same problem
I trapped into the yellow and blue and got nothing from them. When I put the wires for the LED lights onto the pins in the connector before tapping into the wires they worked fine so I thought I was on the right track. I’m confused.

Having trouble creating the y harness To run just the negative to my SPOD. Toyota wasn’t aware of this part. Is this something I can order or who can do this as a special order?

Okay, I figured it out. There are 2 blue wires in that harness. You’ve got to make sure you have the right one.
Yes, I put in all blue lights.

Thank you. I did this but I should also mention that I corrected your drawing.

87 and 87a (normally open/normally closed) needed to be switched So that the lights do not stay on continuously.

Anyone currently making a T harness to get at these wires without tapping factory wires?

I think the meso puddle light harness would be what you are talking about essentially, But t-taps are clean tho because they take up such little space.

That makes perfect sense, I’m just antsy about tapping the factory harness, especially while I still have a warranty.

I have a 2020 trd offroad that has a cab mount chop and tons of aftermarket wiring I have taken my truck to the dealer twice for both maintenances and the low pressure fuel pump recall. Per my Toyota dealer if it’s contributing to a issue they are not concerned.

This good to see but only relates to the switch back lighting. I believe he’s was asking if there is one that supports the dome light power supply and ground.

If you re-read, you might notice more info than that.
The Cargo Lamp circuit shares features/inputs with the dome light circuit. It does not dim OFF or ON, but parallels ON/OFF with Unlock/Lock and Door OPEN.:D

my apologies. I’m having a similar conversation in two forums where as the main topic was approach lighting that works off the fob getting close to the truck so Under truck or rock lights dim on and off and also have the use of a in cab switch without the dome light coming on.

If you have the interior light OFF and the Keyless entry FOB, you'd place the added puddles/rock lights relay pin #85 (-) to the violet wire on the Cargo Light connector. This allows the added lights ON at approach/unlock. Some fellas still have problems getting the Dealer to set this feature ON for the Limited version of the Tacoma.

I see you put a lot of time into that, but it looks like you lose the “auto” feature. Here is how I did mine and I didn’t lose any original features. upload_2021-5-6_10-13-54.jpg
