Anybody know of any cool places to wheel in NY state? My goal is to make a list that New Yorkers can look and find a place near them that they can get out and have fun with their tacos. This can also include remote camp sites accessible by truck. My only request is that people using the information we are assembling fallow the practices of tread lightly / good stewardship on the trails. It only takes one bad example for NYDEC to shut down access.

Any where, If there's a trail in central park let's here about it. From my experience in the Adirondacks places to wheel are few and spread thin.

Yeah from what I've seen. Ny is a horrible place for wheeling choices. NY isn't veteran or off road friendly. PA has some good trails, and the new England areas. But NY is just mehh

There are a lot of “seasonal” limited use/ un-maintained roads in the Tug Hill Area, think Lorraine, Worth, Osceola, very very big land with few people they are signed “roads” but explore with caution especially spring when the snow is melting. Most of what I have seen and done in NY is dirt and gravel but that’s my preference anyway. I don’t look for hardcore wheeling. Good luck

The biking is Hardy Road and Quaker Mt. in Wilmington. The truck trail is West of Route 9 somewhere around I87 exit 29, access road to Dix Mt Wilderness area...South of Sharp Bridge State Campground.

Gowanus Canal, off Butler St. Brooklyn. More mud-bog than anything, but plenty of hookers and discarded handguns to keep things interesting.

Because of the mud? The handguns? Or the hookers? Or the perfect combo of all three?

Turns out they dredged & capped the canal recently, 11' deep... no more toxic mud.

A good example of this is Lincoln Mtn. state forest at the end of Cohen rd in greenfield https://www.google.com/maps/place/C...6fe0d3ecc30d3b!8m2!3d43.1836422!4d-73.8203791. There used to be trails that lead almost to Greene rd, but because of a$$hats dumping garbage on the sides of the road DEC restricted access to half the roads. There are Still some good trails open. Stay to the left at the end of the pavement.

NY is beat as far as off roading and trails wise. I've seen a few off road parks in the state but not really anything to just have fun with without paying and signing anything. Even in the Adirondacks there really isnt much .
