'04 TRD Pre Runner 5VZ

 

My 2004 was made in Toyota City, Japan.
My 2015 Gen2 was made in Alabama

 

All 1st Gen Tacomas were made at NUMMI in Fremont, California. Up until 2010 I believe. It is now the Tesla Factory.

Huh? A late model first gen made in Japan? I thought they quit making Toyota trucks in Japan after 1995. 4Runners and FJ's are/were the only Toyota trucks made there after 1995.

 

That can't be right. One of the only Toyota vehicles still made in Japan is the 4Runner.

Toyota Tacomas were never made outside of NUMMI, TMMTX, and Baja Mexico as far as I know.

 

Fj cruisers were Japanese built. All 4Runners are made there. Toyota pickups were made there. In 1995, all Toyota truck manufacturing was changed to America for the Tacoma and Tundra. So I think you just misunderstood my post.

 

No no, I was referring to @JC15Taco 's truck being made in Japan. Everything you said was correct. My bad.

 

Yes a 2004 Taco...It was written right on the manufacturing label ...Toyota City. If I still had it, I'd post a photo.
This was a Canadian sold vehicle.

There's no way your truck was made in Japan. All 1st Gen Tacomas sold in the world were made at NUMMI in Fremont, California with the beds, cabs, and body panels being manufactured at TABC in Long Beach, California.

 

Tacos never existed in Japan so this is right. Wonder what his VIN started with?

Ah yes. 1, 4, or 5 is USA.

 

I'm just saying what was written on the Manufacturing Label. It surprised me too, which is why I remember it.

You said your 2nd Gen was made in Alabama? How could you tell?

 

My mistake... the 2nd Gen was built in Texas...motor in Alabama.

 

My '96 land cruiser was made in japan too, I don't know if they still make them there or not.

 

I know my 98 t100 was made in Japan, ill have to check the other 3
