Average civilians. It's legal to carry and I applaud them taking advantage of their rights. They didn't bother anyone, ate at the same restaurant I did and were everyday, run of the mill guys. I have no way of verifying, but working in the field I have a pretty good eye for spotting LEO's and the like. These guys were definitely not.

Can the 3.5l con rods handle the boost?

This is false. The engine rpm may be higher while cruising, but the load on the engine is less to maintain highway speeds. Granted if you went with some incredible low gears, then yes you will notice a major drop in mpg.

I'd say going 10-15% lower than stock for the given tire size would be the most reliable solution. Cummins guys have seen 5mpg increase from going to 4.30 gears from 3.73's with 37" tires.

Well your state is about to pass a new law that would allow permit-less concealed carry, so make sure you vote if you feel that way!

OP, sorry for hijacking your thread! Maybe bumping it will allow those who have the info you need to post up. RAD truck btw!

I'm wary of everyday guys that have had a few at the restaurant but feel like they can shoot when they feel like. Main point being "had a few".

Talking about hottrodding a minivan engine and open carry. I think I'm done here. Unsubbed.

It's all about balance. 90% of the people who buy these won't do anything beyond wheels and tires and many will leave it stock. Toyota designed a truck that will go 400 miles on a tank with that in mind which is more than adequate. That said, I've always felt another line with a small V8 and overlander options would be great.

Actually open carry hasn't led to shootings willy-nilly. I have quite a few firearms. It's the availability to any nutcase that is a worrier.

Don't have the exact text but AZ law says it is illegal to carry while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. I lived in CA for 10 years and had plenty of LEO friends. Technically they weren't supposed to carry when they were out drinking, to my knowledge, but they did so quite frequently. Unfortunately laws and rules obviously will not keep people honest. Look at how many idiots still drive drunk and DUI enforcement is insanely aggressive especially in AZ.

    Update;

Went to the stealership today for my 5000K mile service. They confirmed what we already knew. The only option right now is to re-gear. They also said I would have to re-gear both axles.o_O

Curious, I went to the parts desk to see what a 4.30 ring and pinion rear gear set (only option available) would cost. Any guesses?
    $900+ just for parts...:puke:

Yeah you'll want your front and rear to have the same gearing. Unfortunately it's too new to get gears elsewhere like ECGS... :(

You might be able to look around for some salvaged parts from manuals? Probably early for that too...

Could you maybe try to look for parts that are lighther than the ones you have and sell them?

    No Sir.
When a vehicle is sponsored, you use what the manufacturers send. The heavy items I've added are all sponsored items. Shell, Truck Vault, Bumpers.

Man, I thought a bigger fuel tank was a no-brainer with a supposed re-design. I guess the surveys didn't say a larger gas tank was needed.

Sure would be nice to see the 4.6l. That would be nice with 310hp@5600 and 327ftlbs@3400. Toyota could engineer that easily, and slap the same 26.4 gallon fuel tank they've been putting into the Tundras since 2000 also. However, there's no corporate will to do so. Toyota trucks sell to capacity with incremental improvements.

I'm with you on that, but considering they dropped the 4.0 or didn't get updated one in 4runner, there's no way that would happen.
