Well I would ask for some proof here... first

    because....

It was called TRD Aurion and it was Toyota attempt to make supercharged 2GR-FE. It failed so miserable that on Dec 2008 Toyota announced liquidation of Toyota TRD in AU.
that 2GR could not take boost and crap was blowing left to right..
So if Toyota own TRD dept could not boost that abomination of the engine, I find highly unlikely that some private company can do that and keep engines from blowing up especially 2GR-FE was probably ten times sturdier that 2GR-FKS.
    :D

I never said it has to be, but to lower it you're replacing pistons to drop it which involves a good tear down. All of this is pretty time consuming and adds to the expense.

They closed the trd program in AU because they weren't selling enough units, it was their entire trd division. The only thing I misspoke on was the lotus came factory with a supercharged 2grfe not fse. The Toyota Mark X did have a supercharged 2grfse however. Here's what tuning tech said when I inquired about a 2grfks tune for the Tacoma.

I'd agree that going from 3.91 to 4.30 gears is only enough to offset the larger tires and doesn't help with the 1000-1500 lbs of extra weight.

That's weird. Mine does literally the exact opposite. I does great at holding 5th and while cruising and only occasionally holds on to 4th. It all started get better after I had my ATF topped off. 15K miles now.

I've always owned manuals, but bought an auto because of this. Figured it's a truck not a sports car, plus I have my bike.

On the other hand they could have redesigned it to fit a larger fuel tank in.

"With 10mpg in no-man's-land Utah". Yeah, they should have redesigned to a larger tank.

Friggin Gen1 Tundra has a 26.5 gallon tank. The design team must be pretty weak that they couldn't take that nice feature from a 15 year old design and incorporate it into a 2016 3rd Generation Tacoma that is roughly the same dimensions.

I'm sorry man but the need to add auxilliary tanks on the 2016 is kind of pathetic. A bigger tank should have been designed in. It wouldn't have been all that hard to do, but they basically went with the Gen2 design and added some fluff.

Do you need to know, or care?
I said I would post a response if I got one from OzBoost (Turbo Manufacturer) in Australia, and this is what they said about building one for the 3.5L...

I was in Arizona for four months last year and never saw anybody with a revolver on their hip other than law enforcement. We lived in Mesa from '95 to 2000, traveled all over AZ and I never saw anybody with a revolver on their hip other than law enforcement.

I was in Tempe two months ago and saw three guys with semi-autos on their hips. And you know what? Coming from law enforcement, it didn't bother me one bit.
