I'm looking to get a 90's reg. cab. 4 cylinder short bed with manual transmission.

I'm looking really at the '98, '99 or 2000 Tacoma, but wouldn't mind an earlier '91, - '94 Toyota truck.

I'll be using it for personal use and for running errands. Anyone have experience with which year is best?

I had a 91 extra cab it was a good truck. It's life ended in 2000 when it got rear ended. got $4600 for it between what I sold it for and the insurnace settlement. Paid $10.800 for it new

Before you buy one 20 years old have it checked over by a good mechanic. They are reliable, not much to break. The 91-94's might have a R-12 A/C system. Good luck with your search

    I have a 94 and a 2000. (both manual)

Both have v6's but the 3.4 feels like twice the power.

I wheel the 94 almost every weekend, take it on long camping trips etc and it has never let me down. Just did some tie rod ends, new rad, alignment, and drive shaft carrier bearing. Drives like new with 290kms

The 2000 has had a rough life but still holding up really well, factory locker/ power windows etc work perfect. Has 250kms but drives sloppy compared to the 94.

Id say its all about what you like,

but 22re = best motor ever.
