I think I have narrowed down my search for runners on my truck. I'm not a big fan of nerf bars or actual running boards, so I found two pairs that are a kind of a cross between the two. I've pasted the two links to the site where I found these below:

    http://www.runningboardwarehouse.co...oards-toyota-tacoma-double-cab-2005-2009.aspx

    http://www.runningboardwarehouse.com/5blackrunningboards-toyotatacomadoublecab2005-2008.aspx

I'm not a fan of chrome, as you probably noticed given the links above. The set in the first link is constructed of blow molded ABS. What the heck is this exactly and how is it different from powder coat? The set in the second link are powder coated.

Since I live in Florida, I want to choose the ones that will hold up and wear best with the intense heat here. We don't really have any other type of extreme weather other then the heat, rain...maybe an occassional hurricane.

My only fear with choosing the black powder coat is that with time it may or may not start to chip. Because I don't know what the blow molded ABS material consists of I'm not sure if that is going to be a better choice.

I'm hoping I can get some good feedback here on which to choose.

    Thanks!

The first ones in ABS look better, but I dont know how well they would hold up. Go get some NFAB bars and forget these two!

Have you looked at the OEM Toyota running boards? Personally, I think they look better & blend in better than the rounded looking ones.
I don't like nerf or tubes myself.

do you know what the boards are made of? For instance are they plastic?

I like the tube ones that they have with the color being silver, with black foot pads, but I don't want to use chrome or silver. I'd like them to be black, which is a better fit and look for my Red 4DR Taco.
