I just got mine at Toyota of Poway because I knew someone who knew the sales mgr. It was a pleasant experience, no pressure with upselling etc. I plan on taking my taco in for service to Kearny Mesa because I work very close to that dealer.

I passed by there other day and loved the immaculate look of the garage when you pull in..

nada....maybe a license plate one day & BA bumpers
if you maintain yourself, your taco will last longer.....hehehe
my tacoma has never been to a service shop or dealer service (other than tires) for the past 7 years/345k miles

    heres to self maintaining
never had a wheel fly off my taco...I regularly check my torque values on wheel lug nuts, as any competent driver would

    Definitely!

I took care of my own Ford Edge when I had it. Caught a few mistakes by their techs like unplugged vacuum hose and wrong coolant.

I get my free Toyota care for next 2 years though and I intend on using it. I will be checking their work however!

Does anyone have any insight to share about service experiences at Carlsbad? It's not on the list but it's closer to me than Escondido. I typically like doing my own work, but in this case I have some warranty work I need performed. Thank you in advance.

I started out at Frank, they were polite but never wowed me in service, so I moved to Mission Gorge, now Norm Reeves. They have wowed me, even less. You can NEVER talk to anyone in service, they don't return voicemail requesting a callback. Larry, the service manager, is a wealth of knowledge and solutions, but I don't want to bother him for every service question that I might have. SoCal went to this centralized call center for service, which ABSOLUTELY sucks. If you do actually get to a Norm Reeves person answering the line, they are obstructive in getting you to service. So, I am at the end of the rope there. Want something fairly central in location.

I still recommend Eddy, although he is no longer in Chula Vista and now works at Mossy Toyota in PB. Tell him Nobody sent you. He'd take care of you regardless.

your city has over 200 mechanics. Find and befriend one. Get their number. Pay $50/hr labor for the work you want done.

if you’re not a DIYer and don’t know/have at least one personal mechanic friend in your phone contacts, I don’t know what to tell you.

It’s a bit far of a drive but if I have warranty work done the only stealership I trust is Toyota of orange. I try to diy but if it’s above my pay grade I trust simply Toyota in Redlands.

in a similar vein, does anyone have a favorite/great indy mechanic / off road focused in north county? i've been taking my trucks to the truck shop and while they do great work, their communication, rate, and turn around time leaves enough to be desired for me to find something closer. no big plans at the moment but just would like to have one in my back pocket the next time something breaks
