I notice it when I have a decent wind / cross wind hit the truck when I am defiantly speeding. It just started up since it's gotten colder where I am. I don't hear the vent noise everyone else is mentioning. I wonder if it's a seal in the window because I swear I hear it in the upper left corner or at the very top of my drivers door. Nothing passenger side.

Many of us are dealing with this howl

You will get no love from the dealer because most of the trucks have this noise. I drove three that had it. Local Service claimed "it is a characteristic of the truck" If so ALL of them should exhibit the same noise.

Call Toyota Service Phone: 800-331-4331 Open a ticket.

I get the same thing.. when doing 80+, with just the right cross wind, its a weird whistle sound. Not significant enough to bother me though as those are not frequent conditions.

It sounds like its coming from the mirror area though.

I too have this issue, I'm thinking it will be something I have to live with, but will bring it up to my dealership.

I noticed a low whistle immediately after buying mine. Took it back to the dealership the following day to have my new tires put on and have them listen to it. Turned out the weather seal on the passenger door had come "unclipped" or something. They fixed in in about 30 seconds and it doesn't do it anymore. I haven't heard anything like that howl. Thats weird.

Just turn up the radio. I'll admit, driving around a vehicle with a whistle would drive me bonkers.

Recently had some snow here and I didn't have the whistle when truck was partially covered in snow and ice build up on front/sides, then the whistle came back when all snow/ice was gone. ??

The sound like someone blowing into a longneck beer bottle? 45 mph? From drivers side wheel well area? Had it one day and it went away. Hopefully for good. It was very annoying:annoyed:

Yeah that's exactly what it sounds like. I thought it was the wheel well area too.

The problem was with my front passenger door. I took a picture of my driver rear and it tapers just like the picture linked above.

Same whistle, howling sounds during heavy cross winds. As my wife said "what the hell is that noise?". Hopefully they will figure it out soon.

Embrace it! I have the exact noise your talking about in my 2nd Gen Tacoma... anytime I'm doing over 80 and it's slightly cooler out and I get a nice cross wind hitting the truck, daaaarrr she blows!
