Just to bring a badass build thread back from the dead and give you guys an update, the truck is still alive and going strong. Gavin did a hell of a job on the build, and after 2 years of going back and forth trying to buy it, I finally got the keys to it last August. It has literally gone through everything I've thrown at it, and never skips a beat. I've fixed a few smalls issues, and changed a few things, but for the most part it is still close to how it was when I bought it from Gavin. I do have some big plans for it in the future though. Guess we'll see what happens. ‍♂️

I was gonna start a new thread, and still might, but Gavin already has so much info and so many guys following on this thread, I figured what the hell. Might as well let everyone get an update. If I do start a new thread, I'll add the link on here for people to follow if they want.

The amount of work that went into this build is incredible. Here i have been sitting on a set of bushwacker flares for years and still haven't installed them.

Haha that's funny. He definitely put a ton of work into it, and it flat out performs because of it. Even jeeps have a hard time keeping up with it.

A new thread would be fine. I just like seeing trucks I completely forgot about make their way back with a new owner lol

I finally had some free time to build a new rear bumper for the taco. All designed, hand cut, and welded by me...minus the shackle mounts, hinge and latch obviously. I really like the way it turned out. Uses a total of 16 grade 8 bolts to hold it to the frame. Rigid lights will be added shortly.

How do you like that latch? I am thinking of retrofitting that one onto my Brute Force swingout

So far, so good. It's brand new though, so I haven't got to use it much yet. It's very well built though and latches smooth and stays tight, so I'm sure it will be just fine.

Haha thanks. I've had 4 or 5 people ask me about building them already. Unfortunately, it was a LOT of work and I'm not sure I would wanna build any more of them.

Decided to add a small shelf under the spare. Not only does it help carry some of the weight of the tire so the 3 lugs aren't carrying all 120lbs of it while bouncing down dirt roads, but it also makes it much easier to throw up there and get the lugs lined up while the shelf is holding the weight of the tire instead of me. Now, I'm thinking of adding a cooler rack to the left of the spare.

Exactly how does that latch “work”? I believe I can fit one on the end of my swing out, think I’m going to order it today and work on it ASAP image.jpg

Nice looking 6 point on the wall, at least from what we can see.

It just cams over and locks down onto a solid piece of 1" round stock. When the handle closes, that pin on the side locks it in place so it can't open. Works pretty slick.
