Got to looking at some threads on electric fans and decided I'll give it a shot. Read a whole lot of negative reviews on Derale and other brand 1 and 2 speed fan controllers. Ultimately decided to go with a DCC PWM fan controller and Ford Fusion dual fan setup.
A 2014 Ford Fusion popped up at LKQ that didn't have front end damage. It was a pain to get the fans out.. Had to take an entire frame/radiator support assembly out to get the dang fans out.

Taking some before temp measurements over the next couple days.

Lol made a mistake.. The 1.6l fusion fan orientation is flipped from the 2.0l and 2.5l fusion. Makes a big difference when you have to trim the shroud for the radiator hoses to clear... Luckily lkq does returns/exchanges and got a 2.0l fusion in since my last visit.

I got the e-fan and controller installed, recorded some temp readings on a specific route, and was was seeing temps higher than before and higher than expected.. Lots of fiddling around with controller settings, adding the AC option, swapping thermostats, and finally removing the thermostat I could not get the temps to come down to what I had before or what I expected to see after the upgrades.

I bought new Delphi and Beck/ARNLEY coolant sensors, and ultimately got the right 3/8 to 1/8 npt adapter for an external temp gauge. It turns out the aftermarket sensors aren't the right resistance and read close to correct at 80F but 15-20F high at operating temperature (reading 217 while ext gauge reads 190).

I found the factory MEK100160 sensor I proactively replaced, cleaned it up, verified it in boiled water, and we are finally reading much more accurate temps.

    Factory sensor:

    Aftermarket sensor:

*don't mind that 'Faulty OBD adapter' message.. The OBD system in this thing is SLOWwww and if the OBD adapter gets a single error reading it thinks the adapter is bad.

Adding LS1 fans to my old Chevy truck with a V6 (you would think the smaller engine would have less cooling demand) caused all kinds of headaches and eventually overheated when I needed it most. Youve done alot more investigating then I ever did though.

Its what I'm about. I want to know what, why, how, something works and not just replace parts. I have graphs and graphs and graphs of temps vs speed on a specific route to compare when the fans were running and how much cooling I was getting. Until I started doing all of this work I had no reason to suspect the replacement sensor was reading Innacurately from the start.

Looks like I might have pressed too hard, on the improperly installed windshield, when I was pressing the double sided tape for the new wiper cowl... Got it installed no big deal, came back out later and the light caught the window just right

Got new glass today. The guys confirmed it was installed wrong "must've been safelite". It's supposed to be sitting against the top of the guide not over it. From the clip to the passenger side the globs of sealant weren't even touching the windshield. There was just a little bit of rust in the top driver corner and lower driver side but nothing critical, they wire brushed/primer/sealed it up. They even noticed the headed windshield connectors and asked if I wanted heated or unheated(same price).

Been getting the ABS light on and off sporadically. A pretty common issue is the connector inside the abs modulator gets janky. Got tired of it and tore it down, sliced it open, resoldered the pins in the connector. I was going to do the "option b" repair but the wiring for the switches is just about shot so I ordered a new set of switches.

Several speakers out right don't work, some the foam surround has disintegrated, and the others are just plain old. Picked up a couple sets of MTX Terminator6S 2way components to replace them with. A little 3Dprinting of adapters and it's looking like I didn't do anything lol
