I've got both, a '06 taco and a '21 2wd 5.7 tundra with the looooong bed. Both trucks have their use, I love my tundra and the power of the 5.7, my father had an 06 with the 4.7 and it's night and day difference. Bought the tundra to tow the Tacoma to races out of state.

When I traded my 1st gen I was looking at Tundras.
1- It would've been unbearably tight fit in my garage.
    2- I rarely haul anything
3- 3rd gens are bigger than 1st so I waited and waited until a magnetic gray AC trd or showed up on the lot.
Drove to the dealer to test drive it and drove it home that night.
I do like the Tundras though.

I will say, if I'm loading stuff in the bed that's not 8 feet long, I prefer to use the Tacoma. Being lowered it's so damn easy and nice to load big items in.
Washer/dryer was a piece of cake!
Motorcycles? Don't even need a ramp to walk up next to the bike.

This guy  your uncle “dumping his old tundra to buy a brand new one” Tacoma is the reason why tacomas are better? Truck buyers don’t buy a tundra for their max towing ability. That of which most people don’t do anyway.
Tacoma is an awesome truck. They’re both great trucks for different situations and different needs. Sounds like you need to grow up a little.

    You sound like a troll
The Tacoma is better than tundra just because it’s smaller for everything else the tundra is better I own both, owned a 1st 2nd and 3rd gen Tacoma the 5.7 is superior to the 3.5 in power reliability and smoothness, the 3rd gen Tacoma back seats are pretty much useless from infants and car seats all the way up to grown ups it’s uncomfortable for everyone, I definitely prefer my tundra seats than that to my former 3rd gen Tacoma seat plus I don’t have to deal with that weird seating position other than that it’s pretty much a giant Tacoma

I get this is a Tacoma forum and I love my 2nd gen regular cab but I just did a 1900 mile trip a few weeks ago in my tundra up to Wyoming and it was a dream, it would have been tiring in both the taco and 4Runner (which I’ve also owned multiple)
I’m not really into off-roading anymore but I still heavily and regularly disperse camp and the tundra is the best platform out of all of them due to the room and the v8 power on high elevation mountain roads both the 3.5 and 4.0 v6 would struggle

Wrong answers all the way around...

Toyota answers to THEIR customers, not the Big 3's ..

Those of us that have owned a few Toyota's and tried the "others" still come back for money well spent..

You find me any of the Big 3's in a 2002 model that has the same R.O.I. as my Tundra , not even likely..

Y'all have fun playing with your "Jealous uncle" o_O :hattip:while we Toyota owners enjoy our $$$$$$ well spent..

I did the opposite. Came from a tundra. Other than towing and interior space it’s not too much to be happy about. The crew cab bed is useless. Embarrassing to be exact. I don’t tow anymore but still get outdoors so the Tacoma is sufficient for me. I have kids too but this isn’t a family truck. It’s dad’s truck. We have a mini van for that.

Nothing wrong with getting the truck that fits your needs.

Claiming the crew cab bed being useless is a stretch. It's only a foot shorter than double cab. Same with all other manufacturers. The extra foot would be nice to have with a crew cab but it's not the end of the world (for me at least)
