I just couldn't get past the shifting in the tacoma. Hopefully the tundra will be better.

Tundra. I’ve gone from a Tacoma, to 3/4 ton, to a 1 ton dually, back to a tacoma, and finally landed in a tundra. Play every game possible with space, room/gear, towing, and the tundra fits anyone with a wife and kids best.

Test driving a 2020 crew max tonight. We can get into a 2 year 15k lease for cheaper than what my loan payment is on my 14 Tacoma. The size will be a nice upgrade. I don't tow that often but when i do, my tacoma has always had to work really hard. Plus the crew max has plenty of room for when we start having miniature humans.

Pay close attention to the lease terms. I was aiming to do a lease on my Pro, the money factor (intrest rate) was .0035. That translated to ~7% APR. I have top tier credit too, I ended up doing a loan at 3%.

    Good call out.

    How does that conversion work?

    Money factor x 2000=APR I believe.

    So .0035x2000=7.

Basically my 36 monthly payments with no down would have left me owing approx 10k less than the residual (not factoring interest), but due to the money factor you come out at the residual mark. So I would have to pay 35k to keep the truck, making ~10k in interest payments.

Meanwhile a loan for 5 years at 3% was around 3k in interest.

Leases can work, I had a Subie that was leased the money factor on that really low. I have a feeling that part of the issue was it's a Pro model. Even though it would be easy to private party a used one for more, Toyota still values the resale at 35k after 3 years. If you buy a SR5 the depreciation will be less, its all relative though, its less because the percentage of a lower value is always going to be less.

Just have them show you what the payment total after 36 months is, the money factor and the residual. You have to make a judgement call from there. A factor of less than .0025 should be comparable to a loan rate.

No, I have a 2017 Titan S crew cab. The motor is great, the rest of it not so much, well the warranty is great too, thank god.

I'm currently shoppin for a Tundra. Was set on a Tacoma, but I'm too used to the full size. I agree that parking is a pain, but as a crippled american I had a handicap tag and parking is no problem 99% of the time.

Take a look at the 05-06 models. I ended went from a 2010 tacoma to a 07 tundra crewman down to an 06 tundra. I love this thing. 4.7 v8 and just a tad bigger then a tacoma

    Tundra,as been on my mind.
My 2018 Tacoma which has only 14 thousand kilometers ,might be traded in for one..
I had a 2007 Tacoma before i bought that new one ,and I enjoyed it more.
I just can t get use to that 3.5 engin!
Find in town until you hit 80 kilometers, then well you all know what they do.Feels like you have a 4 cylinders.
The rest of it,i like it,but I do regret buying it!!!
My Toyota dealer ,will call me if they do have a Tundra with low milages comin in,then i will see what kind of deal we will be lookin at.

Eh saw this and I'll throw in my unsolicited 2 cents. If you're needing to tow, full size. If you use it for larger activities like a farm style ect full size. If you're worried about 3 people in the back, when I was younger myself, brother, sister, both parents were in a dodge 2500 with the bench seat in the back ( the dodge version of an access cab) for drives 8+ hours. It isn't that bad. Tundra is a beast though

I went from a 99 taco to an 08 taco trd sport to a 15 tundra platinum. The tundra is such a nice truck and I love it. I don't regret trading for it a single bit. The gas mileage isn't great, I get 13-15 mpg but got 14-17 in my 4.0 taco so it's really not bad. The comfort, size, power, extra space, towing and hauling abilities are a huge upgrade. It's my daily driver and its the best car or truck I have owned.

Didn't know you were over here. I still come over here now and then to check out a few threads. I do like the other forum much better though, no drama.

I'm debating doing the same. I've never been able to adjust to the seating position in the Tacoma. It's just sooooooo low to the floor. I'm used to my Ford Expedition (work truck) and I need a bed to haul steel. That's the OTHER thing. I tried loading 900lbs of steel in the back of the 6' bed the other day and the rear suspension (with AAL's) just sat right down on the bumpstops. And with 33's on the Taco, I'm getting 15mpg right now... with the 2.7L!

In the market for a double cab Tundra with the long bed... and 4WD. It's asking a lot but I'm sure I'll find one soon.
