Who has a 4x4 tailgate badge on their 2017 Off Road/Sport?

The 2016 TRD Off Road and Sport 4x4 models did not have the 4x4 badge on the tailgate, but the Toyota website now shows that the 2017s have it. Can any of the 2017 TRD OR/Sport 4x4 owners chime in to confirm whether you have it or not?

 

2017 offroad here.. did not have 4x4 on the tailgate. Only V6 badge.

Only the 2016 MY trucks (properly equipped) had the 4x4 badge. Now, in the 2017 MY, only the PRO has 4x4 on the tailgate. No other trucks have it. Only the V6 badge (again, if properly equipped).

Now you know.

 

Interesting! My badge inlay set for the OR/Sport does not include the 4x4 decal because the 16s did not have it, but a customer emailed me yesterday stating he has the badge on his 17 Off Road. This led me to check the Toyota site. I wonder if it is a regional thing or perhaps TX vs MX?

 

I don't think this is true for 2016s. The 4x4 badge exists only on trucks that (obviously) have 4wd and DO NOT have a bed side decal to note that.

For example TRDOR and TRD Sports note 4x4 or not on the bedside decal. No need for a tailgate badge. TRDPro and SR5s have the 4x4 tailgate badge but no bedside decal (option on the pros but uncommon).

And my 2017 OR was built in San Antonio, TX, if that may make a difference as to the question at hand.

 

The 2016 trucks had an additional 4x4 chrome badge on the tailgate. They removed that in 2017. That's the topic here.

The website is probably using stock images. We know for a fact current trucks no longer have the 4x4 badge on the tailgate, even though it is shown on the site.

 

While this may be true, that's probably not the actual reasoning Toyota used. I'm pretty sure we don't need them to tell us Tacoma 3 times.

 

Show me the 2016 TRDs with the 4x4 chrome badge...

This is definitely interesting but Toyota is known to make mistakes. They were randomly shipping TRDs with half black flares and half color matched flares (rare but noted on this site)

Interesting. I cannot find any pictures online of the 2016 with the badge. That said, 2 people I work with and one of my friends, all with 2016 (2 sport, 1 OR), all have the 4x4 badge.

 

Motortrend had a '16 OR with the 4x4 and V6 badge. It appears they're not stock photos so it's an actual truck they shot and drove around.

If that's the case this again goes back to Toyota being absurd with assembly. I've yet to see a 16 TRD (non pro) with the badge around here.

It says 4x4 on the side road the bed. Much cooler than being on the tail gate.

I wish the 4x4 letters were bigger on the side of the bed. That would be cooler
