2017 trd pro, 80k miles. Just changed the plugs and they didn't look great. But otherwise no issue. Will check the new plugs in a few thousand miles and see if the problem continues.

Yeah I made an assumption there, since the AC OR M/T is considered by some as "the unicorn".... and my 1st 3rd gen was one of those.

Amazing how plugs look on these newer cars with miles on them, can hardly see any wear.

The oil really helps to keep them lubricated and fresh. I hear that's important for newer vehicles.

I coming up to 90,000 miles/145,000 km's on my 2017 Tacoma TRD Sport. Its 5 year anniversary is this November. Still runs Beautifully. Its seen 5 winters and not a spec of rust under the truck and its ridiculously clean under there. I get it rust protection sprayed every year in Late September and flush the undercarriage every spring. Paint still looks amazing and Opticoat Pro+ Ceramic coating i had applied when new helps keep the truck looking amazing. Im going to get a paint correction done and get the Pro plus reapplied next spring.

Got a big service Booked for 1st week of October. Literally every fluid is getting drained and replaced and fuel system is getting cleaned and Injectors cleaned. Did the Plugs at 100,000km.

Jealousy and anger mostly. Not anger toward the lucky few, but to Toyota for being a shit bag company.

Not lucky few. You are part of the unlucky few. Sorry for your issues but c'mon man, Most Tacomas run for a long time. Let it go. Get it fixed and move on.

Maybe it’ll be fixed one day.. it’s been 56 days and the replacement motor had a cracked timing cover and had to move one to mystery motor #2. Finger crossed that one will get me out of the parking lot and not grenade.

When you’ve reached the mindset that Toyota is a shit bag company, what do you do ? Walk ?
Although they have issues, they are probably fewer and farther between than most. I do expect things to get worse with the demand to make cost effective vehicles with enough bull shit gadgetry to distract the consumer from what they’re doing to appease the feds.

I read your thread. Again, sorry for your bad luck.
Hopefully by reading this thread you will realize that you are the outlier, not these guys.

All of the OEMs suck and have “lucky customers” at a similar rate from what I’ve seen in research of critical motor failures. I’m trying to build a UFO to fly where I want when I want, but that shits hard and the tools/equipment is expensive. Other than that the better option is to buy 2 old trucks for under $5k each and just do repairs myself

Can’t say I disagree. Not much out there for me these days. Waiting for a new sr with 2.7 to arrive and not thrilled. To get an engine with a good track record have to settle for gutless performance while consuming lots of fuel to do it, then hope they haven’t recently decided to source some shitty components or materials to save a buck so I can find myself posting here about how mine prematurely shit the bed.
