I asked my dealer about ordering a TRD exhaust system and he said that they didn't make them for double cab short beds? Is this this true? He said he would have to contact the people who made em to find out if he could get it.

^^^ this!! that dude is an idiot...lol

The double cab short bed and access cabs are the same wheel base so you would have to order one for an access cab

That dude at the dealership doesn't know crap

I have the TRD exhaust system on my truck. I have a 2012 dbl cab short bed. It fits perfect! Just added the Dough thorley long tube headers this weekend really sounds nice. I think its was $360 shipped and I just bolted it on. Took 30 min.

ok well he said he could only order for a long bed double cab or short bed access cab. So i could just tell him to order one for the access cab? Do you know what kind of muffler comes with the TRD

FWIW the access cab has the "long" bed not short. I think the name stamped on the muffler is Bosal, or something like that. I forget I only looked at mine once. If I had it to do over I would have gotten something different myself. I've contemplated cutting out the muffler and swapping something else in.

Well i thought it might be cheaper to just get a muffler installed. I mean the only differene is the trd exhaust has the trd tip on the end and a muffler.right?

Should be a lot cheaper. I do like the tip with the TRD kit. But it doesn't make nearly enough noise for my liking. Likely other complete kits for cheaper as well.

ask around, offer the parts dept your rock bottom price for the trd exhaust access cab (also for double cab short box).

I would say 320 would be a target price.
Install it yourself, I have an installation thread on here, but there are several others.
It is really easy, and saves your the costs. I shopped around for the exhaust, and didn't go with the dealer I got my truck from.

    Good luck

Please have him call the supplier in front of you, and damage control will ensue.

If they don't make it, then what TRD exhaust comes on every TX/Pro tacoma that is a double cab? I have the TRD exhaust on my 2011 double cab TX/Pro Tacoma. I think you need to find another place to shop for parts..

I have a 2012 DCSB, it came stock on my T|X Pro. I haven't decided if I like it or not, honestly. It's not any louder than a regular exhaust system, just a different tone that carries more.

would it be any benefit in getting a TRD cat back exhaust compared to a normal exhaust? the truck currently has a sport tip already installed.

edit: i should reword that. so basically i'm paying for a replacement tip and some piping that would enhance the sound output. would installing this incur any changes to the ecu/reflash or is it just a drop in no modification upgrade.

Exactly what you said.... replacement tip, slightly different muffler.

    Drop in, no modification upgrade.
