It's only because you nicked the corner...if it was just the doors you'd probably be in the low 500's or so since ti's just dent repair and shaping...maybe some paint.

No that's far too high. The sliders would have just bit into the snow and the rest of the truck would have still taken a broadside from that tree. I blew a tire out once by hitting a tree branch that was hidden in a snow pile. Funny enough that's the same job I got air in the Dodge with.

So Sorry to hear about your new truck! Don't beat yourself up too bad.
By the sounds of it, you were just getting out enjoying life, your truck, that is what its all about!
Been there done that too, black ice & a tree first yr then a hit & run this year. My truck is fixed now all is good
Good news is you are ok, didn't get hurt, have insurance.
Wish you the bestest repair and thousands of trouble free future miles!

I happens to all of us. I had a new (to me) 2004 Dodge Dakota and it was my first truck. I was fishing with a bud and came across a water hole that we wanted to cross. He asked if he should get out and check the depth (we both had hip waders on). I had just detailed the inside of my truck and didn't want him getting back in with muddy waders so I just punched it.

Hydro-locked engine, shattered the connecting rod and piston, 4" of mud inside the cab. $12,000  later and I traded it in for a Tacoma :D

Here is the truck before swamping it:

You can see my buddy in this picture and he is still wearing his rubber waders...

Sorry to hear about your damage. Send it through insurance and move on.
